“No?” His question catches me off guard, but I don’t miss the edge to his voice, or the implication in his tone. “Why would you even ask me that?”

“Kennedy isn’t exactly a common name.”

“Are you . . .” I study his tense jaw and coiled muscles. “Are you jealous?”

“Hell yes, I’m jealous!” His gaze snaps to my face. “Everywhere you go, you have a line of guys just itching to replace me.”

“Jordan—”

The SUV’s tires kick up a cloud of dust as the stranger flies out of the gravel parking lot. Jordan watches, jaw ticking, until every trace of the SUV is gone.

Then he exhales and rakes a hand through his dark hair. “Yes. I’m jealous, but it’s so much more than that. I’m genuinely concerned for your safety. Random strangers getting close enough to take your picture are close enough to cause you harm.”

“I . . .” The uncomfortable truth in his statement sinks in, and a shudder rolls through me. “This obviously has something to do with the contest, but I have no idea how he knew where to find me.”

“This has Nicole written all over it.”

“No. She wouldn’t . . .” My first instinct is to defend my friend, but in the back of my mind, I suspect she’s guilty.

Jordan slips his hand in mine, and we make our way back to his Jeep. “Who else knew exactly where we’d be and when?”

“My mom, my Delta Sig sisters, plus whoever Seth told.” And everyone following the Get Laid List on social media, but I don’t tell him that. “Besides, Nicole wouldn’t do something like that without telling me.” Even I don’t believe the words tumbling out of my mouth.

Jordan digs into his pocket for his keys. “Maybe he saw your picture trending somewhere. I’m guessing this sort of thing didn’t happen before you two came up with the fucking list.”

Even though he’s right, the not-so-subtle dig stings. Everything boils down to the “get laid” list. Dread rises up my throat as I dial Nicole’s number.

She picks up immediately, her voice shrieking down the line, loud enough to scare birds from the trees. “What the hell did Keller do to Seth?”

“Wow, good news travels fast.” Jordan opens my door and helps me into the passenger seat.

“The idiot had an allergic reaction.” I roll my eyes. “Why would he even agree to go hiking if he’s allergic to fire ants?”

“Death by fire ants?” She snickers. “How poetic.”

“He isn’t dead.” A horrifying thought hits me. “He’s not, right? Dead?”

Nicole’s laugh echoes through the Jeep. “Not unless his ghost is posting Snaps from the back of an ambulance.”

“Too bad,” Jordan mutters.

I shoot him a frosty glare. “Not funny.”

“It’s a little funny,” Nicole says. “But don’t feel too bad for Seth. He’s milking it for sympathy.”

I sigh. “That’s not why I called.”

“Oh. How’d the rest of the date go?”

Ignoring her question, I slide my gaze toward Jordan. “I think I have a stalker.”

“Only one?” She cackles. “Are we talking about the Kens, Caleb . . . Lucas?”

Jordan tenses but keeps his thoughts to himself.

“None of the above. I’m pretty sure I have a bona fide stalker this time. Jordan wanted to break his expensive camera.”

“Did he break it?” Nicole’s tone shifts from amused to serious.
