“Gave? Colten, the way you fuck me, you already have a damn breeding kink.”

I pull the pack of cigarettes from my jeans and squash them with my fist. “I’ll join you. I want to live beside you for as long as I can.”

“Oh, thank fuck. Because I don’t know if I can stop myself from stabbing you if you smoke one in front of me right now. I’m trying to hide how agitated I am, but it’s bone-deep, Colt. Bone-deep rage that only nicotine can fix.”

I laugh, tucking her hair behind her ear. “Well, I can’t wait for that phase to start. What about every time you get a cigarette craving, you come to me, and I’ll fuck you real good to forget about it?”

“That might help. I think we could maybe make this a little competitive?”

I arch an eyebrow. “How?”

Although I smoke, sometimes I forget about it and don’t have one for weeks. It depends on how stressed I am. I can kick the habit if I want. I think. Now, I ain’t too sure after listening to Gianna’s review on the experience.

“So, we gotta do this cold turkey. Whoever slips and has a cigarette, the other gets to punish accordingly. Put ourselves on the line,” she suggests.

I run a hand through my hair. I know she can be mean; I’ve witnessed it firsthand with her prank wars.

“No more Viagra, though, please.”

She giggles. “I was thinking more like tying you up and making you watch me get myself off until you come in your boxers.”

I rest my head back against the rest and blow out a breath. “That might kill me.”

G frowns, turning back to the window. “Can you hear that? Are they having a party?”

Snapping my mouth closed, I listen. She’s right. In the distance, there is music and cheering.

“Not that I’m aware of; let’s go find out.” I hop out of the truck, round the front, and open the driver's door, helping her to her feet.

“They better not have started the torturing party without us, Colt. I can’t tell you how long I’ve waited to slice up Levi,” Gianna sasses.

I slide my hand in hers. “I thought you’d start with pulling out his remaining teeth.”

She flicks her hand. “His breath stinks; you think I’d want to get that close when his mouth is open?”

A laugh bursts out of me. “True.”

Excitement races through me. Torturing Cesare and Levi alongside my wife? I couldn’t think of a better way to see out my day.

There is nothing hotter than a woman who’s a little bit stabby, especially on a nicotine detox. I feel sorry for both of them.

CHAPTER EIGHTY-SEVEN

Gianna

You never truly know what to expect in a day on Sterling Ranch, but walking into a family line dance in the dirt outside Hunter’s horse pen? That wasn’t even in my top ten.

Jett is leading the dance, can of beer in hand, wearing a T-shirt covered with pictures of Gary. He kicks his leg and spins, and a heavily pregnant Harper follows behind him, bumping right into Ace, who holds her steady.

He’s even got Tate joining in, a man I’m not even sure I’ve had a full conversation with. He’s laughing next to Hunter and Lola. Lola looks like she’s about to pee herself in hysterics as Wyatt does his own routine next to her.

“Come join in. Leave grumps there to watch; he never dances,” Jett calls out, waving me over.

My feet stay rooted on the spot.

They’re all kind of doing the same routine, just all slightly unique to them. And I don’t have a clue what any of the moves are when it comes to line dancing. The most I’ve seen is the floor erupt into a choreographed dance when Dom and I went to the local bar when we first moved here. I honestly thought it was cult-related, because how do so many people know the same damn dance? Is there a school for this?

“I’ll teach you how to do it the right way,” Colt tells me, dragging me over to join the rest of them.
