Emma hands the justice of the peace our rings, and he places Trey’s in my hand while giving mine to Trey. “These rings are an unbroken circle of love, signifying to all the union of this couple in marriage. Trey, place the ring on Addilyn’s finger and repeat after me. Addilyn, this is my sacred gift, with my promise that I will always love you, honor you, and cherish you all the days of my life. And with this ring, I thee wed.”
Trey repeats the words as he slides the band of diamonds on my finger, rubbing it back and forth with his thumb before looking up at me.
“Addilyn, place the ring on Trey’s finger and repeat after me. Trey, this is my sacred gift, with my promise that I will always love you, honor you, and cherish you all the days of my life. And with this ring, I thee wed.”
I slide the white gold band that he picked out onto his finger and repeat the words as Trey flashes me a full smile.
“By the power vested in me by the state of Nevada, I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss your bride.”
Trey’s arm scoops around my waist, and he yanks me into his body, planting his lips on mine as everyone starts cheering and clapping. I grab his face, kissing him back with the same enthusiasm, and the justice of the peace chuckles behind us, prompting Trey to pull back and look down at me.
“I love you, Mrs. Harrington.”
“I love you more, Mr. Harrington,” I whisper, and he laughs, a rich deep sound that reaches down deep in my soul.
“I present to you, Mr. and Mrs. Harrington,” the justice of the peace says, and everyone starts clapping again as I peek out at them laughing while Trey buries his face in my neck. I close my eyes and just revel in the unbelievable amount of happiness coursing through my body right now. I bet I could kick off the ground and fly if I wanted to.
“All right, you two, break it up. They have another wedding to do,” Tucker says, slapping Trey’s back, and he pulls away enough to tuck me under his arm as we all start filing out of the chapel. We gather around the cars as I’m passed from one person to the next, receiving hugs and congratulations.
“Well,” Charlotte says with an exaggerated sigh, and I can’t help but smile, “I’m still not happy that ya’ll decided to do it this way but that was beautiful. Welcome to the family, sweetheart.”
“Don’t start, Mom,” Trey cuts in, sneaking up behind me, and wrapping his arms around my waist. “I’ve been waiting three years to marry this woman. As soon as she said Vegas, I was booking the flights.”
Charlotte was not thrilled when we called to tell her that we were getting married and if she wanted to be there, she better pack quick. I do feel a little bad because this is her last child getting married, and I know she wanted to plan something but I just couldn’t waste any more time. I needed to marry Trey as soon as humanly possible.
“Yes, I know. And speaking of, Dad and I have a present waiting for you back at the hotel so should we go?”
We all agree and climb into our respective cars. Trey rented an electric blue mustang once we landed in Vegas, and I have to admit that I kind of love it. As we drive down the strip toward the Bellagio, where we’re staying, I peek over at Trey and can’t help but giggle again. He glances over at me with a grin on his face.
“What?”
I shake my head. “I don’t know. I’m just so happy.”
“Me, too,” he whispers, grabbing my hand, and giving it a squeeze.
“I’m your wife,” I say, almost testing the word out, and he laughs.
“And I’m your husband.”
“Does it feel weird to say?” I ask, and he shakes his head, his grin falling away.
“No. It feels perfect.”
I scoot across the seat and cuddle into his side as the sun starts to dip behind the mountains in the distance, and I can’t believe that this is my life. For so long, I was sure that I would follow in the same path as my mom and now here I am, married and happier than I could ever imagine.

Trey sucks the frosting off my thumb, looking up at me with fire in his eyes, and I swallow hard, desperately needing everyone else to get the hell out of here so I can jump my husband. When we got back to the hotel after the wedding, Charlotte surprised us with a little mini reception in the suite she’d rented for us. There’re flowers, music, cake, even a three-course meal prepared by our own personal chef. She may have acted upset at the chapel but she still got to plan something for us, and I’m really grateful. I know that I’ll remember this day for the rest of my life but I really wish they would clear out already.
“Come on, smash it in his face,” Tucker calls from his spot on the couch next to his wife. She slaps his chest, and I giggle at their exchange. I have a feeling that’s Daisy’s response to a lot of things that Tucker says. Looking around at Trey’s family – my family now – I feel incredibly lucky. I’m no longer all on my own, and I never want to go back to the woman I was before Trey worked his way into my heart.
“It’s time for your first dance,” Charlotte calls, snapping at the photographer she hired to get shots of us dancing, and I bury my head in Trey’s neck while I laugh. The woman is a force of nature.
“Your mom is a little crazy tonight,” I whisper, and his body shakes with laughter. I pull back and he nods, holding his hand out to me.
“She is but let’s humor her, wife.”
“Whatever you say, husband,” I reply, placing my hand gently in his as he leads me out to the living room area. All the furniture has been pushed to the side so we can all dance in the middle, and Trey wraps an arm around my waist as he starts swaying us to the beat. As the lights from the strip below sparkle through the windows, I can’t help but sigh.
