I watch as Keely starts the engine before I head back inside, because it’s hot as fucking balls in the car, but she calls out my name before I get too far. Turning my head, I arch a brow, my lips twitching into a smirk. She’s so fucking beautiful, the sun shining down on her golden hair. It almost fucking glows.
“Yeah?”
“Nothing,” she says.
She sinks down into the passenger seat of the car. I wait for her to close the door, and once she’s safe and nestled in her seat, I jog toward the clubhouse in search of a couple clubwhores to clean my room.
CHAPTER
THIRTY-ONE
KEELY
“It’s too much,” I practically cry.
My phone buzzes in my pocket, but I ignore it. I’ve been ignoring it for an hour, almost two. We ate lunch, talked about the house and the future. It wasn’t too in-depth, though. Nothing is too in-depth. It’s not because we don’t want to discuss things. It’s because we’re both dancing around the important details.
So many important details. Some that are meant for couples who have been together longer and who know each other better. Some that just seem too personal… and we have a baby together, so I don’t know if anything could be too personal at this point.
But I’m apprehensive.
“It’s not enough,” Brock states as he reaches for a box of diapers on the shelf. “These are the right ones?”
I flick my gaze from him to the diapers, then back to meet his eyes. “How did you know which ones were the right ones?” I ask.
His gaze shifts from mine to Thea, then back to meet mine. “I saw them in the trunk of your car when you packed everything. I took notice.”
I’m not sure why that makes my heart squeeze, but it does. Just the idea that he paid enough attention to notice it. Nodding a couple of times, I rock back on my heels. “Those are the right ones, but she’s in that size,” I murmur, pointing to the size that Thea is currently wearing.
He jerks his chin, then puts the box back before taking the right one. He gets wipes and then bathing things, along with a little plastic tub, after demanding that I tell him what she needs.
He also picked out a bassinet and informed me that she would get a brand-new crib when we settled into the house. I nod and smile, unsure of what to even say. The whole thing seems like it’s not even real.
After everything is purchased, and I feel extremely guilty about the price of it all, we walk back to my car. Brock puts everything in the back seat and trunk, then we settle in our seats, and before he pulls out of the parking lot, I can’t stay quiet a moment longer.
“Brock,” I call out. He turns his head, his eyes finding mine. “I feel weird,” I whisper.
His eyes search my own for a long moment before he arches a brow. “Weird?”
“This whole thing. We ran into one another, had sex, said we would try this out and see if we would move in together in a week. The next day, my parents are a mess. You packed us up, and now we’re here. I don’t know you. We have a baby together, and now we’re living together in your club place. Weird.”
He blinks. Then he bursts out laughing. I don’t know if I should be offended or not, but I decide not to be. Instead, I wait for him to respond to my breathless rambling. He leans forward, lifts his hand, and then I feel his fingers glide across my cheek, cupping me there.
“Babe,” he grunts.
Goose bumps break out over my skin at the single word. I know we’ve only just started dating, but I already know that when he says babe like that, it means that he’s going to say something I really want to hear.
“Brock,” I exhale.
His lips twitch, then he slides his thumb along my bottom lip, his gaze searching mine. He leans forward until his mouth touches mine. I feel his tongue slip inside my mouth, taste me with one pass, before he shifts back slightly.
“We’re new, but we’re going to work, Keely. We have Thea. We have no choice.”
“What happens if we don’t?” I ask in a whisper.
He shakes his head. “Not possible,” he states. “You’re mine. You’ll be mine. And Thea will always be mine.”
I open my mouth to respond, then snap my lips closed, unsure of what to say. My breathing comes out in pants as I try to think of what to say. I don’t know if I want to be his forever, but at the same time, I can’t wait to be his forever.
