“Kenji, you can come in.” I replied, finding my voice. Kenji smiled at me as he stepped forward, I stumbled back as he entered the house.

Right as Kenji came into the house a grunt yell came from Dante as he ran towards Kenji, I went to slam the door in his face but Dante stopped a few feet from the door. His chest rising and falling rapidly, with his arm raised with a knife. His eyes bounced from me to Kenji, anger was written all over his face.

“Quinny,” Kenji called my name again as he slipped behind me, wrapping his arm around my waist, pulling our bodies together. He kissed me on the side of my neck. “Ask him why he can’t come past the door.”

Kenji’s taunting tone caused my body to go rigid as I came to the understanding of what he was saying to me. Dante is a vampire too.

Chapter 11

Kenji Touré

Dante’s bitch ass was clearly a vampire, and I didn’t understand how Quinny had been in a relationship with him, yet she couldn’t tell. I knew because vampires could sense other vampires by their auras. Dante’s accent let me know he was from the second region. With the second region being so far from ours, it was unlikely that Dante was living here for no reason. Vampires tended to stay close to the regions they were from. We’d move around various cities and states within the region, but leaving the region you were from was rare, especially for one that was over three thousand miles away. I’d lived too long to believe in coincidences. There was no way a vampire was dating a human and had never drunk from her. Dante was up to something, and it involved Quinny. That was where he fucked up: involving my soulmate. Dante was weak as fuck. There was no way he was working on his own. Whoever had him doing their bitch work was going to find out the hard way that Quinny wasn’t to be fucked with. As soon as I figured out what they wanted with Quinny, all of them would be dead. I knew for a fact that Quinny was a human. Her aura told me so, which made it even more puzzling as to what the fuck Dante or whoever he was working for wanted with her.

“Who sent yo’ bitch ass?” I asked, grilling Dante as he stood outside the door, all fucked up. I’d barely broken a sweat fighting Dante, yet he looked like he’d had the fight of his life.

Dante’s eyes scanned Quinny and me. He frowned at my hand securely around her waist, holding her soft body against mine. He was jealous, something else that was weird as fuck. A jealous vampire was unheard of when it wasn’t their soulmate. Dante must have really had feelings for Quinny, but it didn’t seem like she held the same sentiment.

“Fuck you,” Dante grumbled, sounding like he was in pain.

“You’re a fucking vampire,” Quinny said with aggravation.

Dante smirked, revealing his bloody fang. “Took you long enough to figure that out.”

Quinny scoffed, shaking her head from side to side. “This can’t be my fucking life right now.” She dramatically threw her hands in the air. “Two fucking vampires? Really, Quinny?” she scolded herself.

“I guess you have a type, huh?” Dante chuckled, trying to be funny. I didn’t see anything funny about his joke.

“Bitch, I’m her only type,” I said, checking Dante. His bitch ass had to be smoking blood rocks if he thought Quinny wanted anybody but me. I was the only mutha fucka she could like.

A small smile took over my lips, Quinny liked me being possessive. Her freaky ass got turned on from my words. I cranned my neck placing my lips on her neck, placing small delicate kisses that made her body shiver in response.

“Get a room,” Dante bitterly said, and I could feel the hate in his heated glare.

I looked up at Dante, slightly annoyed that he was still here. “Leave,” I warned him with a threatening glare.

“I’ll wait. I might not be able to beat you on my own, but I have backup coming. You two aren’t going to leave here alive,” Dante said, looking over his shoulder into the darkness.

Fuck, I could sense other beingscoming near us. If I was alone, I wouldn’t have been bothered by Dante and his bitch-ass friends. I was sure I would have been able to easily take them out. However, with Quinny here, she would be a weakness. I could leave her in the house. As long as there were only vampires, she’d be good.

“Y’all finna be waiting outside all fucking night.” I wanted to test my theory by baiting him into revealing who he was working with. “We not inviting y’all stupid asses in. You’ll die in the sun first.”

I guessed Dante called himself letting out an evil laugh, but it sounded more like a wolf howling in pain. “We’re not that dumb to only bring vampires. I’m sure you can handle a few sirens,” Dante’s goofy ass confidently said, not realizing he’d told me what I needed to know.

“Oh, yeah?” I asked in a mocking tone as I began lifting Quinny off her feet. She let out a shriek that I doubt was supposed to sound as sexy as it did to me. I was starting to see that everything that came from Quinny was sexy to me.

“What are you doing?” Quinny asked, trying to wiggle herself loose from my grasp.

“Keeping my soulmate safe,” I replied evenly to Quinny, my eyes on Dante’s bitch ass. “You left yo’ keys in the car?”

“I did,” he said, scowling at me in confusion. “Wha—”

His words were cut off by my fist hitting his face, knocking him off his feet.

Still carrying Quinny, I moved us out the door, stepping over Dante’s limp body. I scoffed at Dante’s snores. His bitch ass couldn’t even handle a punch.

“Kenji, put me down right now!” Quinny yelled, clawing at my fingers, trying to pry them off her waist.

“Shut up,” I grumbled, tightening my hold on her waist. Right now wasn’t the time for Quinny to fight me. I could hear the cars coming down the dirt road. Whoever was working with Dante wasn’t too far away, and I needed to get her ass out of here.
