Lex

His finger dipped inside, and she arched. The overwhelming need to taste her again had him tossing the sheet out of the way and lifting her ass right off the mattress. Uncontrollable, fierce fucking need pumped through his entire body. Mine. He needed to be as close as possible. Right fucking in there.

Throwing her legs over his shoulders, he dropped his face and ate her like a famished man. Like a man claiming his mate.

She was already so sensitive, and it didn’t take long to make her come again. Hmmm. How many times was it now? Four? He wasn’t even close to being done and he kept worshipping her. Summer’s legs clamped around his head and she screamed.

“Lex!” Her body jolted and she cried out.

Multiple orgasms. Score.

When he finally let up, slowly lowering her legs to the bed, she was breathing hard and her limbs collapsed like they were made of jelly.

“That was…” She couldn’t seem to catch her breath, and he smirked, wiping the back of his hand across his mouth. “Oh, my God, I can’t even form a sentence.”

He chuckled, lowering down beside her and laying his cheek on the pillow as he watched her come down from orgasmic bliss. She turned to face him, still looking a little shaken, but in the best possible way.

“Are you always so, ah, vigorous?” she finally asked.

“Just with you.” He reached out and brushed a lock of hair back. “Are you always so responsive?”

She shook her head. “Lately, it hasn’t been easy. Having an orgasm, I mean. I was beginning to fear those days were over.”

He let out a long sigh. “Same.” Her ability to be forthright and candid encouraged him to open up, too. It made him comfortable enough to trust her with his concerns and fears. “The truth is, I haven’t been with a woman in well over a year and I was starting to think I’d lost my—” He glanced down. “My ability and my desire.”

“You have lost nothing.” Her gaze dipped, too, and he couldn’t help but smile.

“Guess you helped me find my mojo again,” he murmured.

“I will gladly help you find it. Anytime.”

They shared a smile, and as happy as he was that she’d enjoyed all he’d done to her, something niggled at him. Something he desperately wanted to know. “Can I ask you something?”

“Sure.”

“Why did you keep Holt as your last name? Why didn’t you change back to your maiden name after getting divorced?” His gaze narrowed as the worst thought possible hit him, making his heart stumble. “Are you still in love with Scott?”

Chapter fourteen

Still in love with Scott? Was he kidding? Unable to stop her instant reaction, she burst out laughing.

Doubling over, clutching her stomach, she looked up to see Lex through a veil of hysterical tears. The expression on his face—so serious—made her reel it in and regain control.

“I’m so sorry.” She swiped at her eyes. “But that’s the most preposterous thing I’ve ever heard in my life. No offense,” she quickly added.

What looked like relief passed over his face, then turned into determined curiosity. “Then…why keep his name?”

“The short answer? It was just easier.” She shrugged. “After the divorce, I was so busy moving and so worried about my mom’s health, the last thing I was thinking about was legally changing my name back to Shelton.”

“Summer Shelton,” he repeated, voice low, as though he were testing it out. “I like it.”

“Thanks. Maybe it doesn’t make sense, but it wasn’t a priority. And do you know what a hassle it is to change your driver’s license, credit cards, passport, social security card?” She counted them off on her fingers. “Bank accounts, insurance, hell, even voter registration. It’s a lot. And I didn’t have the mental bandwidth or desire to deal with any of it at the time.” She reached for his hand, squeezing it. “But it doesn’t mean I still love him. Truthfully, I’m not sure I ever did. He came along when I was really lonely and vulnerable and—”

She pulled in a breath, realizing she’d been the same way when she met Lex. He caught on, too, because he asked, “What makes me any different from Scott?”

“Everything,” she whispered.

A strange look passed over his face, like he still had doubts, and she hated it.

“Alexander Battle, you are nothing like Scott, so don’t you dare think it. There’s no comparison.” She threw her arm wide, motioning to the room. “Do you think Scott ever took me to the fanciest hotel in the city? Or ordered everything on the menu to make sure I liked something? Or stepped up when I needed help? Or gave me endless orgasms?” She laid her hand along his stubbled cheek. “You put me first, and I love that about you.” Oh, shit. Don’t use the L word, dummy. Nothing makes a man run faster. “I mean, I appreciate it. So much.”
