I nod.

“Appreciate it.”

I look toward the house.

Madison is standing behind the living room window.

She's got her arms folded, looking like she's debating whether to wave or flip me off.

I grin.

Then I turn back to the prospects.

“Eyes on the road. Nobody comes near the house without Grim clearing it. Madison needs anything, one of you calls me.”

“Got it, VP.”

“And don't treat her like a prisoner. She's here because we're keeping her safe, not because we're holding her.”

Both men nod.

Good.

I pull on my helmet and swing onto my bike.

The engine comes to life beneath me, and for the first time since we escaped that fucking SUV, something settles in my chest. There's nothing like the sound of a Harley.

I give the house one last glance.

Madison is still at the window.

I raise two fingers.

She hesitates.

Then she lifts one finger in return.

The middle one.

I laugh.

That's my little wildfire.

I pull onto the road.

By the time I reach the clubhouse, my good mood has disappeared.

Striker sounded wrong on the phone.

Careful.

My brothers don't get careful unless there's a damn good reason.

The prospect at the gate waves me through.

I park beside Grim's bike and kill the engine.

Vex is standing near the clubhouse entrance, phone in hand.
