“Little witch, there are more important things happening between us.”
“I’m not dropping this. Besides, you’re healing my curse. I want to heal yours.”
“This is not a curse that can be healed.”
“Then, how does it go?”
“The god, Inari must lift it.”
“How do you get Inari to do that?”
He rolled his eyes. “Prove myself.”
“In what way?”
“I stopped caring a century ago.”
“Yoichi. . .”
He groaned in annoyance, moved closer, and lifted me in his huge arms.
“What the fuck?”
“Let’s go.”
“Where are we going now?”
“Somewhere warm.”
“I’m already warm.”
“Warmer.”
“And will you tell me about that curse?”
“Are you going to drop it?”
“No.”
“Then, yes. Apparently, I have to talk about this highly insignificant thing.”
“Bullshit.”
He carried me down the hallway, past the dark polished beams, past the samurai armor standing silent guard in the corner, and past black vases spilling cherry blossoms.
Minutes later, he stopped us in front of a wide glass door and opened it.
Oh my God.
