Oh shit. . .another vision.
This time, Yoichi the fox spirit was older. He kneeled on the steps beneath the shrine gate, and I felt what he felt. The weight of a hundred years. The ache of leaving the only home he'd known.
The fear.
And while I didn’t see the god Inari, I could sense the massive presence.
Oh my God. So much power.
Then Yoichi’s shape changed right before my eyes. The paws became bare feet on wet stone. The thick fur gave way to silky skin. A breathtaking kimono formed around the new body. Long black hair spilled out.
A woman kneeled where the fox had been, with Yoichi's gold-orange eyes and a smile that knew exactly what those eyes could do to a man. The only thing connecting them was the furry tail behind her.
The vision jumped forward, and I was now in the center of a Kyoto street at dusk. Lanterns swayed. Wooden sandals clicked on stone. And every man on that street turned to look at Yoichi’s female form as she walked by.
A merchant dropped his basket.
A samurai walked straight into a post.
A monk closed his eyes and prayed.
And she laughed at it all, so hard and loud that I felt that laugh in my own chest.
And then the vision let me go, and I sucked in a breath.
Yoichi's eyes narrowed on my face. He’d stopped us again. "You saw another vision?"
"Yes. You as her. Very wicked." I considered something. “But. . .”
Yoichi began walking us forward again. “What, little witch?”
“You didn’t have those cursed hands on your arm.”
“No, but I would have them soon.” He frowned. “She was the one that got them on us.”
“What happened?”
“I’ll tell you that story later.” He stroked the back of my knee with his thumb.
Heat shot straight up my thigh and exploded low in my belly.
Damn.
My back arched in his arms. A whimper slipped out of me before I could catch it, and more fresh arousal soaked my already dripping panties.
And to my utter embarrassment, the scent of it rose around us.
The chauffeur's steps faltered. His head turned, just slightly, confused, like a man who had walked past a bakery and couldn't figure out where the sugar was coming from.
Next, his eyes landed on me.
And just like that, a murderous growl tore from Yoichi’s chest.
My eyes widened.
The chauffeur looked away so fast I almost felt bad for him.
Yoichi cleared his throat. “Forgive me.”
