He took another step.

Slow.

Certain.

The space between us disappeared.

Warmth wrapped around me.

His breath skimmed my ear.

“Still want to run, little one?”

My knees weakened.

Not from fear.

His fingers found my chin, tilting my face toward his.

For a moment he simply hovered there.

Close.

Too close.

“I’d track you anywhere, Nyssa.”

He murmured against my mouth.

The words settled deep. I felt them before I felt anything else. My arms slipped around him. Because I knew he meant every word. The kiss took my breath. My thoughts. I tightened my hold as his hands went to my waist. Lifting me.

He knew instantly. Catching my leg. Cradling it gently as I shifted my weight, hooking my feet around him.

God, he tasted good. Like wet stone, dark coffee and home. The rest wasn’t taste at all. It was power. Danger. Devotion. I wrapped my arms tighter around him kissing him deeper as he shifted his hold. The door opened. Closed.

We were moving but I barely noticed at all.

He never missed a step, did he?

I slowly slipped my tongue into his mouth.

He stopped walking.

Turned.

Pushed me gently against the wall.

I pushed my tongue in deeper.

He unleashed a low moan.

My lips curled around the sound.

One slow thrust of his hips stole my breath. My eyes fluttered as I whimpered.

He smiled this time, breaking the kiss.

“Two can play at this game, little one,” he murmured, grinding his body between my legs.
