“And the crazy bastard actually pulled it off,” Colston says, sitting back in the booth. “Goldie came over this morning to take the test. Our boy’s officially going to be a dad.”

Trace looks at me again, and this time the grin fades into something more serious.

“Shit.” He reaches over and grips the back of my neck for a second, giving me a hard shake before letting go. “Congrats, man.”

I can’t stop the smile that pulls at my mouth. “Thanks.”

He lifts his glass. “To strong swimmers.”

Colston immediately raises his. “Hell yeah.”

I clink my glass against theirs and take a drink.

“So what’s the deal with this girl?” Trace asks.

I open my mouth, but Colston is already digging his phone out of his pocket.

“Her name’s Goldie,” he says. “And she’s way out of his league.”

I flip him off.

His grin only gets bigger. “Plus she likes snacks and texts me dirty memes, so she’s got a great personality.”

My head turns toward him. “I’m sorry, she does fucking what?”

Colston completely ignores me. He taps his screen a few times, then slides his phone across the table toward Trace.

“Look at this.”

I lean forward before Trace can even pick it up.

It’s a picture Colston snapped this morning. I’m angled toward Goldie, leaning into her space so my shoulder’s nearly pressed against hers. She’s mid-laugh, looking gorgeous as always.

And then there’s me. I’m not looking at the camera.

I’m looking at her mouth.

Looking at those lips that look so fucking good wrapped around my dick, and whatever was going through my head when he snapped the picture is written all over my face.

Yeah… one look at this picture and it’s obvious my whole “we’re just co-parents” thing is bullshit.

I snatch the phone off the table and shove it back at Colston. “Delete that.”

He catches it against his chest, laughing, and I kick him hard under the table.

“Ow, you dick.” He jerks his leg away and reaches down to rub his shin.

Trace barks out a laugh. “You’re so fucked, man. You look at her like you’re on death row and she’s your pardon.”

“Shut up.”

He tips his glass toward Colston’s phone. “And what’s the deal? Is she your new girlfriend or is it a friends with benefits situation?”

“Neither. We’re just friends who are going to raise a baby together.”

Trace eyes me with disbelief. “So you two are just co-parenting? No bennies?”

“That’s what we agreed to.”
