“You okay?”

“Yeah.” He nodded too quickly. “Yeah, yeah. I’m good.”

“You don’t look good.”

“I’m just…”

He exhaled and looked at the test again. “I never thought this would happen for me.”

My heart cracked open. “Oh, Caleb.”

I reached up and touched his face. “Well, it did.”

He nodded. “I know.”

“This is our blessing.”

He looked at me and I smiled through tears.

“God is a God of miracles.”

His eyes moved away, but I didn’t think anything of it because I was too happy. I wrapped my arms around him again. For a few seconds, he held me, then he looked at his watch.

“I hate to do this.”

My smile fell. “What?”

“I’ve gotta go.”

“Already?”

“I moved some shit around just to make sure I could see you for lunch.”

“Oh.”

“I have something I can’t miss.”

Disappointment hit but I tried not to show it.

“It’s okay.”

“You sure?”

“Yeah.”

He kissed me. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s fine.”

He grabbed his phone and something about his movements felt hurried now.

“Caleb.”

He stopped.

“Everything okay?”
