“I know it’s tequila. What kind?”
“Drink it.”
“That’s how people die.”
Nash picked up his. “You scared?”
I rolled my eyes. “Please.”
We clinked glasses. I took the shot and immediately squeezed my eyes shut.
“Fuck.”
I screamed and Nash jumped. “Oh my God!”
“What?”
“This is my shit!”
I ran back toward the living room.
“Blair!”
I didn’t care. The next part of the night existed in pieces. We took another shot that definitely should not have happened. I was on his couch dancing before he lifted me off while I screamed, thinking he’d drop me. We laughed so much and kissed so much more.
I remembered laughing so hard my stomach hurt. I remembered sitting on the floor eating crackers directly out of the box because apparently canceling dinner wasn’t the best idea a few hours later.
Next thing I know, my eyes opened. I stared at the ceiling. Where the fuck—
My head throbbed and a few memories returned slowly.
“Oh, shit.” I sat up too fast.
The room moved and I grabbed my head. “Jesus Christ.”
I realized I was in a bed and froze looking down. Dress? Still on. Bra? Present. Underwear? I lifted the comforter and they were also present.
“Okay.”
My phone was plugged into a charger beside the bed. I looked to my right and the bed was empty but the sheets were moved so I knew he’d slept there.
I stared at the other pillow. “How the fuck did I get up here?”
I slid out of bed and grabbed my phone. There were two texts from Klair.
Klair: Alive?
Klair: If you don’t respond by noon, I’m assuming you got some FINALLY and you just don’t want to be disturbed.
I typed:
Blair: Fuck you.
I needed water, food, and a new liver. I opened the bedroom door then stopped when I heard voices downstairs. I heard Nash’s voice and a woman’s.
My entire body went still as I listened. I couldn’t make out what she was saying, but I heard her laugh and my stomach dropped.
I stood at the top of the stairs talking the rage out of my head.
