“Especially when mine are much more interesting,” East volunteers with a grin.

“I take it back; Shane’s dick isn’t going to be the one that gets us all in trouble.” Lawson turns to East. “Yours is.”

“At least my dick is having some fun. When was the last time yours fucked anything other than your hand? I feel bad for the poor thing.”

“Can we please stop talking about each other’s dicks?” I grumble.

“Fuck no.” East comes up beside me, knocking my arm with his elbow. “And don’t pretend you don’t know exactly what I’m talking about. Storybooks were written about the shit I heard you did the night of your patching-in party.”

I chuckle because maybe the old ladies back in Vegas are right. Bikers gossip more than they do.

“I plead the fifth.” I smirk.

East rolls his eyes, angling his head at me. “So, about the sleeping arrangements…”

“You’re all fucking ridiculous. Get back to work.”

The guys laugh—even Lawson. And even if they’re giving me shit, and even if we’re simply working, it feels good to bullshit with them.

I wasn’t sure how the guys would react to me bringing Harloe around, even if I really do think she’s going to help the club’s reputation. But they surprised me by not questioning my decision.

They support it.

They support her.

For the first time, it feels like we’ve got each other’s backs. Good or bad, we’re working through this together.

As the day heats up, we take turns going inside for water and food. Slowly but surely, we make progress on the weeds. With so much out of my control lately, it’s nice to tackle a project I can check off.

We spend all day clearing the weeds around the clubhouse. First, starting with the five-foot perimeter and then working on the larger bushes a little farther out in case the crew needs more space.

Lawson leaves when it’s time to get Max, and then they disappear for their after-school routine of reading and visiting the horses in the barn. Aiden finishes clearing out the west side before heading inside himself. Then it’s just me and East, working on the roots of an overgrown bush in the front before calling it a day.

I’m dripping with sweat. My T-shirt sticks to my chest, and I’m on the brink of exhaustion. Using all the strength in my legs, I finally rip the bush free. It jerks me backward, and I almost fall on my ass. Thankfully, I catch myself before a truck pulls to a stop between the garage and the bunkhouse.

Harloe pops out with a smile on her face. Her dark wavy hair blows in the breeze as she circles the vehicle. When she reaches the other side, she pauses with her arms crossed over her chest.

Biting her lower lip, she slowly and unapologetically looks us over. “And to think, I almost missed out on this view by staying with my brother.”

She sweeps us with her gaze, her eyes settling on me.

“I can give you a better one if you’d like a tour of my room.” East grins, earning an eye roll from her.

“You’re a little too late. Haven’t you heard? I’m already taken.” Harloe winks at me, turning to open the passenger door. She bends over to reach farther into the truck, and her ass peeks out the bottom of her cutoff shorts.

“Fuck,” I grumble, rubbing the back of my neck and looking away.

I promised her I’d be a gentleman, but when she flirts with me, cuddles against me in bed, and bends over right in front of my face, I’m struggling. Especially as her hips wiggle when she lifts herself higher.

“Yep.” East laughs. “You are so fucked.”

I look over and find him staring at Harloe’s ass, so I shove his arm. “Don’t you have shit to do?”

“Don’t you?” He chuckles.

He turns back to the bush while Harloe pops out of the truck with a bag on either arm. She winks when she catches me staring again. It’s almost like she knew I was watching her all along.

“Dinner will be ready in an hour,” she says, walking toward the house. “I hope you’re hungry.”
