“How long you in town for?”
“Just until Saturday. I have a meeting in the afternoon. After that, I head home.”
“You got plans for Friday?” he asked with a small smile playing on his lips.
Her only plans were going through her next case file, reading a book, and watching videos on her phone. Though she wouldn’t be sharing her pitiful existence with him.
“Not really.”
“Having a party at the clubhouse. You should come.” He smirked. “Jekyll will be there.”
Her cheeks immediately burned at the sound of his name.
“I don’t know if…”
“Hyde too. Haven’t seen him since he got out, right? Be a little reunion. You can be my guest. Friday night parties are a lot of fun, darlin’. You don’t want to miss out.”
It would be a lot more fun than sifting through paperwork. She couldn’t remember the last party she’d gone to that didn’t include those collecting social security. And the major factor had her heart picking up speed.
“And you don’t think Jekyll or Hyde would mind if I came?”
“Not at all, darlin’.” He put out his hand. “Give me your phone. I’ll give you my number and send you the details.”
She watched as he tapped on her screen and heard his phone ping. He handed it back to her and stood, putting him only a foot from her.
“Now, don’t stand me up, darlin’.”
“I won’t.”
She watched him walk away. He had a confident swagger as if he owned the room. Don’t all serial killers? As he headed toward the door, she noticed Addison watching him from the main level, and her eyes shifted to Imogene. She lifted her hand, waved, and turned back around with only one thought racing through her mind.
What does someone wear to a motorcycle club party?

As much as Jekyll liked his new separate quarters away from the clubhouse, he got cagey anytime he was in one spot for too long. He’d spent the morning sleeping in, eating breakfast, and doing laundry. So fucking domesticated. Jekyll still hadn’t furnished much of his house and wasn’t sure he actually would. This was all new territory. It had taken him years to be comfortable in his own room at the clubhouse. A house might take a decade. It made sense. He’d spent his entire life with no real space of his own. This was an adjustment.
He grabbed his cut and keys, and walked out the front door. He had an empty garage but still opted to park in his driveway. He was a creature of habit. He walked down the steps, and from the corner of his eye, caught two brothers on the sidewalk. Yeah, we got fucking sidewalks.
“Heading out?” Cross asked with Ace by his side, walking past the open lot separating their houses.
It was specifically reserved for Hyde, but he hadn’t shown any interest. Jekyll mounted his bike but didn’t start the engine.
“Yeah.”
Cross gestured toward the property. “Think he’ll ever build?”
“That’ll be up to Penny. So I’m thinking that’s a hard no.”
Cross laughed, and they stopped a few feet away.
“Taking a ride?” Ace asked.
“Was thinking about it? You need something?”
“No.” Cross smirked. “But you’re gonna miss the party.”
He scoffed. “Been partying for six months. I can skip one.”
