He gave everyone his back and cupped her jaw, forcing her to look up at him. Her eyes were welled, and while she was looking directly at him, it was as if she was in some type of trance. His thumbs strummed her cheeks.

“You’re gonna go with Ghost, and I’m gonna be there as soon as I’m done here. Okay?”

She nodded.

Hyde said something to Ghost, and he lowered his chin, then came up next to Jekyll. “I got her.”

“Stay with her.”

“Won’t leave her until you get there.”

Jekyll watched Cyrus lead her and Ghost to the elevator. He didn’t turn back to Oz until she disappeared from his sight.

“I’m trusting you to keep her in check.” His gaze darkened. “Because if you can’t, we will.”

Jekyll lunged forward, but Wraith stepped in his path, blocking him. “Don’t you ever fucking threaten her.”

“Not a threat. Consider it a warning.” Oz didn’t even flinch. He grabbed his glass and took a sip while staring at him over the rim of his glass. Jekyll was beyond raging, and the blood rushed through his veins.

“Settle down,” Wraith said.

Gent clucked his tongue. “This is all getting out of hand. Threatening women?” He shook his head and smiled at Oz. “Speaking of women, how’s Elle doing?”

It was an unspoken rule. No one ever mentioned Oz’s wife.

“Watch yourself, Gent.” Oz’s tone was sharp.

He spread his arms. “Just inquiring about your lady. I mean, aren’t we all family in the end? You, your asshole brother, Trey, and Sal. And us and Inez.” Gent angled his head. “Wonder what Inez would think of you keeping Imogene in check. Might have to ask her next time we meet up.” Gent smirked. “See, this is the part of the kingdom that I don’t envy, Oz. ’Cause unlike you, I got nothing to lose.”

“Alright, Gent.” Cypher stepped in front of him. “You’ve made your point.”

Gent pinned Oz in his stare. “Have I?

Oz narrowed his gaze.

“What else do you need?” Ace asked.

Oz kept his eyes on Gent. There was zero fear in his stare. But it was safe to say Gent just marked himself on Oz’s radar.

“A total.”

Jekyll straightened. “A total of what?”

Oz slowly turned to him. “The money she’s owed.”

“You’re gonna pay her for what she lost?”

“I’m not, but Calloway will.”

Oz was just as unpredictable as Rogue. He hadn’t seen that coming.

“You’re gonna make him pay her back the money? You really think he’s going to agree to that?” Ace snorted.

“I am. And he will.”

“Why? You don’t even know her.” Jekyll asked the same question they were all thinking.

“This order came from above my head.” Oz cocked his brow. “It seems your woman has made quite an impression on him.”
