“It’s Denver.”
“I’m aware.”
He smiles anyway and pulls her into a hug.
I suddenly become very interested in finding somewhere to put my bag.
The guys are spread out across the gate area, most of them on their phones or talking in small groups. Jordan gives me a nod when I come over, and I take up a spot behind the chairs.
From here, I can see Quinn perfectly.
She’s talking to her dad about something, smiling as he answers, and every few seconds I have to remind myself that staring at the coach’s daughter like I know exactly what she looks like naked is probably not the smartest thing I’ve ever done.
Jesus.
I look away.
When I glance back, Quinn is looking at me. Only for a second. But it’s enough.
Her gaze drops over me before returning to my face, and something hot and private passes between us.
Then Brennan turns.
I look down so fast I nearly give myself whiplash.
“Larkin.”
Fuck.
I look up. “Coach?”
He studies me for half a second. “Bus from the hotel leaves at four tomorrow. Make sure the rookies know.”
“Yep. Got it.”
He turns back to Quinn.
I breathe again, and when I look at her, she’s pressing her lips together. She’s laughing at me.
Now I’m the one narrowing my eyes at her in warning. That little minx.
She looks away.
I pull out my phone and pretend to check something, but when I glance up again a minute later, she’s watching me.
This time she doesn’t look away immediately. Her cheeks go slightly pink, like she’s having some very explicit thoughts.
Hah! At least I’m not the only one who can’t stop thinking about a repeat of last night.
Her reaction makes me want to walk across the gate, put my hands on her waist, and kiss her until she forgets every warning she gave me this morning.
Quinn looks toward her dad. Then back at me. “I need to find a bathroom,” she declares loudly.
Brennan barely looks up. “Okay.”
Is she really? There’s no fucking way.
Except just before she disappears around the corner, she glances back right at me.
