Because every time Fionn Harrington appears, hating him gets harder.

Chapter 15

Sera

The yard is exactly the same even though Fury’s only been gone a few days.

Rain runs over the concrete between the house and the barns.

One of the dogs barks from near the kennels, then loses interest. Men move between parked cars and the far barn with their collars turned up, cigarettes burning orange beneath cupped hands.

The main barn door is half open.

I swallow the lump in my throat and slip inside, freezing opposite Fury’s empty stall. I do a one-eighty turn and walk straight back out.

“Hey, Sera,” a guy calls out as he jogs over. “I need your autograph.”

I grab the sheet for a fuel delivery and sign it off.

Shay comes up behind me. “Want me to clean out his stall?”

My throat tightens.

“Might be easier for me to do it,” he adds.

I shake my head. “I’ll do it later.”

Shay pulls at the peak of his cap. “If you need a hand, just shout.”

“Thanks.” I offer him a tight smile and walk off, crossing toward the feed room when Saint steps out from the shadow of the farthest barn.

He’s scowling and heading my way.

“Saint,” I say. “You look cheerful.”

“What the fuck happened at Cormac’s garage the other day?”

I lift one shoulder. “He took a swipe at me. Rafe put him in his place, and I raised the debt he owes.”

His stare drops to the fading cut near my brow.

“He’s in the hospital.”

My brows tug tight. “The pussy went to hospital for a busted nose?”

Saint narrows his eyes. “Try two broken hands and a concussion,” he says. “Someone wearing a balaclava broke into the garage and attacked him.”

For a second, all I do is stare at him, keeping my face blank. “That’s unfortunate.”

Saint sighs. “Was it you?”

“Right, like I have time to waste on him,” I laugh. “The guy’s an asshole who beat his wives. One of them must’ve taken their turn.”

“Sera.”

“What?”

“Did Rafe send someone back without running it past me?”
