Sera Tallon.
I trace the letters with my fingertips as I take in the sight of my name.
Sera Tallon.
Not Sera Harrington.
Or Sera Tallon-Harrington.
Just… Me.
My vision blurs.
He’s not asking me to become someone else; instead, he’s giving room for the woman I already am.
“There aren’t any clauses,” he adds. “Or conditions. And no hidden small print.”
My breath turns shallow. “When does this take effect?”
“As soon as I hand the chosen draft to the underwriters.”
I look up. “Why?”
“That land has stood between our families for too long. I won’t let it stand between us anymore.”
My fingers curl around the page. “And Keira?”
“She’s still named. You both own it.”
“But I have a claim to it now… We can use it?”
“Yeah.”
My stomach drops because there must be a catch. “And if I say no and don’t marry ya?”
His eyes hold mine. “It’ll be legally in your name no matter what.”
The anger drains, taking every thought with it. My lips part, but I can only stare at his handsome face while my heart beats faster.
“So, this is your way of asking me to marry ya?”
His hand slips into his trouser pocket, and he takes out a small black box.
Inside, there’s a narrow band of diamonds surrounding a larger stone set low enough that it won’t catch on anything.
“This isn’t a Harrington heirloom.” He watches me closely. “There’s no family history attached to it.”
Fionn lifts the ring from the box.
“I bought it with money earned through my own businesses. Everything I've built until today was mine."
He turns the ring between his fingers before offering it to me. "Everything after today belongs to us."
Diamonds sparkle in the fresh daylight spilling in from the windows.
“Why now?” I whisper, our fingers brushing as I take it from him. “You’ve only just ended your engagement with Eilish and left home. You’ve got freedom now.”
"I left that wedding dress shop and spent an hour thinking about you wearing one." Fionn gives a small shake of his head. "That's when I knew the only man you'd walk down the aisle to meet was me."
