He twists his head from side to side, his neck cracking loudly with the movement. Then, his quiet voice stretches out across the room.
“I’ve killed hundreds of people in my life. Three more is meaningless. Those Alphas will die by my hand if they come anywhere near you or this establishment.”
In my peripheral vision, I see the red flashing light on the camera stop flashing, turn blue, then red, then blue, before returning to its normal red flashing.
This cannot be a coincidence.
I may not know what each of the colors mean, but I find it hard to believe that Mama would be doing maintenance or something on a camera in the room I’m in when I’m the one she really wants to watch.
I may not be able to get the exact message that I want out to my Alphas, but I’ve just insured that, if they really are listening, they now know there is an armed man with me, and he is on the lookout for them.
Their lives are in danger.
Chapter Twenty-One
Cade
“Irecognize that Alpha.”
Before Ilya finishes speaking, I’ve already brought up his profile on the screen: photo, background, and talents.
The night after I’d gone to Sin, I’d correctly guessed that the security in the building had been increased and upgraded. But more cameras and listening devices doesn’t make those components themselves more secure.
It didn’t take me long to hack into Mama’s system. I piggybacked off the WiFi and extended the feed to my system, granting us access to all the devices inside, from Mama’s office to the main showroom to the private rooms and even the dressing room.
The picture quality was absolute crap. And since the root video was so poor, no cleanup could be trusted for a visual identification of the man my brothers and I had suddenly seen following our Omega everywhere. And he rarely spoke within range of the listening devices, making my task of identifying him a nightmare.
Sin was so immune to the devices, it took a long time for her to notice me manipulating the ready-lights on the cameras in any room she entered. She always acted like they weren’t there, and honestly, most times, I didn’t want to watch what was happening. Who she was with, what she was doing to them. It made me ill thinking about other men touching her, and seeing it made my vision turn red.
But I didn’t give up on trying to get her attention, and she finally noticed. And she hid it well, getting the armed guard to give more clues as to who he was.
“Takahashi Miki,” I say, pointing at his photo. “Miki is wanted for the complete decimation of Akaji Takahashi’s family then kidnapping and torturing him.”
Garen hisses at the mention of kidnap and torture, and peer over at him, his gaze trained on the screen. “Is Ji all right?”
I nod affirmatively. “Yes, he was recently rescued. I don’t know how long it will take for him to recover, but there’s a call for Miki’s execution.”
“Excellent. Makes all this easier,” Ilya hums. “It didn’t take him long to find employment after betraying a powerful family like the Takahashi.”
“Interesting that his given name is the same as their surname.”
“Historically, when allied families from the East are charged with offering soldiers to one another, they’ve named them something benign. Something that dehumanizes them.” I frown. “His name could have indicated he was always destined to belong to the Takahashi, like property.”
“Regardless, he obviously snapped. He has to know he’s a wanted man.”
“He does,” I tell my brothers. “Which means he has nothing to lose.”
“More dangerous to our Omega,” Garen growls.
“Exactly.” I change the screen to the next slide. “He’s an excellent shot, talented at hand-to-hand—”
“Let’s not give him a chance to get any sort of hits in, hm?” Garen’s tone is lighter now, that glint in his eye that he’s so known for. Devious, calculating.
“You have a plan?”
He turns a wicked grin on Ilya at his question. “Don’t I always?”
“We can’t do anything until we know how we’ll be keeping the others in that club safe,” I remind them both. “Sin hasn’t escaped with us out of fear for them.”
