Pursuing Desire

“I like how you call me sir,” he purrs into my ear. He slides his hands down my waist and onto my hips. “Now, tilt your hips just like this and widen your stance a bit.”

I chew the side of my lip, suppressing a grin. I grind against him, my ass rubbing against his groin. “Like this?” I ask innocently.

He sucks in a deep breath and is quiet for a few seconds. “You adorable little witch. I knew you’d get me into trouble. How am I going to back up now when my cock is already standing at full attention?”

“Sounds like a personal problem. You started it, anyway. Maybe you’ll learn your lesson next time,” I tell him gleefully. “So, be a good boy and back away. I have a game to win.”

“You’re lucky we aren’t alone right now. The things I’d like to do to you . . .”

My pulse jumps at his sultry threat. I swallow hard and try to think of a witty comeback, but it’s justifiably difficult when there’s a hot-blooded, horny male molding himself to my backside.

It’s almost enough to make me forget that this date is a contrived outing the show put together. Why does Dax have to be such a good actor? He almost has me believing this could be real.

He and I would’ve never been here if not for the show.

We’d never be on a date like this.

We’d never have slept together.

Just because circumstances have thrown us together doesn’t mean we’re in a relationship.

At least Dax has been upfront and honest with me. He’s made it clear we’re just out to have a little fun. There’s nothing wrong with living for the moment if both parties know the deal. We aren’t hurting anyone. The problem is the more time we spend together, the harder it is to remember that it’s all fake. It’s harder to keep myself from being emotionally involved.

It’s getting harder to remember why I don’t like him. Probably because I do like him. A lot. And when he’s being flirty and cute, he drives me crazy in all the right ways.

“Are we going to stand here all day, or are you going to take a swing at the ball?” Dax’s voice snaps me out of my thoughts.

I blow a flirty kiss over my shoulder. “But you’re still touching me.”

He removes his hands from my waist and takes a dutiful step back. “Fine. The views are better from back here anyway.”

I’m not even going to turn and see him staring at my butt. I’m going to ignore him and take my shot.

And that’s exactly what I do. My club connects with the ball just right. The ball travels quickly until it hits a boulder at just the right angle. It catapults off the boulder and into the hole. My eyes widen, first in shock, then in joy.

I throw my hands high, and I jump up and down. “Ha! I beat you! I win!”

Dax smiles and puts his arm around my waist and pulls me toward him. Then, he dips his head toward mine and kisses me quickly. “Great job. But you didn’t win yet. If I get mine in, we’ll be tied. Should we make a bet?”

“A bet? I won the last bet. Are you sure you want to try again?” I ask.

“Oh, no, you don’t.” He wags his finger at me. “You didn’t win the last bet. I did. If I recall correctly, you lost the last hand and had to remove the rest of your clothes. I won that poker game.”

I tilt my head to the side and look at him with steady eyes. “And if I recall correctly, the rules were clear. The first one down to their underwear loses. Do you remember your words, Dax? It doesn’t matter who lost the game, it only matters who got down to their underwear first. And that was definitely you.”

Dax lets loose a booming laugh. “You’re sneaky. I can’t believe you’re trying to beat me on a technicality.”

“No, no, no,” I say in a singsong voice. “Not try. Did. I beat you on a technicality. As soon as we get back to New York, I plan to claim my prize. I’m going to request you have her washed and waxed for me. I don’t like to drive a dirty car.”

He puffs up his chest and looks offended. “Scarlet is never dirty. I give her a bath once a week.”

“Perfect. Sounds like she’s ready for me,” I say gleefully.

Dax’s arms are still around me. He rubs his nose against mine slowly and then pecks me on my lips. “We’ll see about that. For now, I’m going to kick your butt in a round of mini golf. So, step back and watch a master play.”

Our outing to San Francisco has been full of surprises. First mini golf, then a picnic in the park, next was bumper cars, and now we are on a private night tour on an open-air double-decker bus. Since the show rented the entire bus for our personal use, we have the upper deck to ourselves. And best of all, filming is done for the night.

The lights of the city rush past us, and the chill of the night air has goose bumps rising on my skin, despite the sweater and jeans I’m wearing. Dax notices and puts his arm around me. Without hesitation, I lean in and melt into his warmth.
