“Difficult, isn’t it?”
“Extremely.”
He hooks one finger beneath the tie at my hip. “Can I?”
The fact that he still asks should not be as sexy as it is.
“Yes.”
The knot loosens. My bathing suit follows the dress. Sunlight pours through the open balcony doors, warm across my skin, and somewhere outside waves crash against the beach while Enzo stands there simply looking at me. I fold my arms. He catches both wrists gently and lowers them.
“No.”
“There’s that word again.”
“You know what I mean.”
“I’m naked in broad daylight, Enzo.”
“And?”
“And gravity exists.”
“So?”
I blink at him. He smiles.
“Sweetheart, I’ve already seen every inch of you.”
“Not under direct California sunlight.”
“Then apparently I’m overdue.”
I laugh despite myself. Enzo bends and kisses the curve of my shoulder.
“Beautiful.”
Another kiss, lower this time.
“Enzo.”
“Hmm?”
“You keep saying that.”
“I’m going to keep saying it.”
His mouth moves over my skin while his hands settle at my hips, and my clever response disappears before I can find it.
This is different from our first night. That night, I worried about everything. My stomach. My thighs. Whether he would notice every place that doesn’t resemble the women in expensive lingerie ads. Today I’m mostly worried he’s taking too damn long. I slide my fingers into his hair.
“Bedroom.”
He lifts his head. “We’re in the bedroom.”
“The bed, smartass.”
His smile turns wicked.
