“Milo is Caleb’s teacher and my employer. Nothing more.”

“I won’t bring it up again. I was thinking we should order a pizza for lunch.”

“Sounds great. Do they deliver?”

“I don’t think so. But I can go pick it up.”

Wilda picked up a piece of discarded wallpaper and rolled it up. “I don’t suppose it’ll be free again.”

“Probably not. I’m sure Milo was behind the free pizza we got last time.”

“Is he friends with the owner?”

“Pretty sure the guy who I talked to was Milo’s brother.”

“Oh, wow.” She dropped the paper into a box she was using for trash. “Now I want to go pick up the pizza.”

“To check out his brother?”

“Yeah. I think he has a couple of them. He refers to them quite often.”

“You may go pick up the pizza. I’ll stay here and work.”

“Call it in, though.”

“Will do.”

Wilda gave it ten minutes, then drove to Rocco’s to pick up the pizza. The family resemblance was obvious in the two men behind the counter. The older one smiled as she approached.

“Welcome to Rocco’s.”

“Thank you. We called in an order under Carson. Wilda or maybe Mathias Williamson.”

“We’re boxing that up right now. You must be the mother.”

“Um…”

He laughed. “Sorry. Milo told us about your son. I’m Gentry, Milo’s brother.” He nodded toward Abe. “That’s Abe, also a brother.”

“How many of you are there?”

“Six.”

“Oh, your poor mother.”

“Next time, let us know it’s for you. We’ll give you the friend of the family discount.”

“Thank you.”

“Your son is in good hands, by the way. Milo is great with his kids.”

“I’ve noticed that.” She picked up the box. “I should get this to my brother while it’s still hot. Thank you.”

“Enjoy.”

“Nice meeting you both.”

“You too.”
