“Just…don’t take it personally if I have to leave suddenly. Please don’t think it means I don’t want to be with you. Because I do. More than anything.”
“I’m not going anywhere, Beau. Not on the good days, not on the bad ones.”
My eyes drop to where her hand rests on my thigh, her thumb still drawing those maddening circles. The touch is innocent enough, but every nerve ending in my body is hyper aware of the heat of her palm through the denim.
“You keep doing that,” I say, voice coming out rougher than I intended.
She glances down at her hand, then back up. “Doing what?”
“Touching me like that.”
Her lips curve into a slow smile that makes my blood run hot. “Does it bother you?”
I drag in a breath through my nose. We’re having a conversation about important shit, but she’s rubbing my thigh and telling me she’s not going anywhere, and dammit, I can’t focus on anything except the way her hand feels on my leg.
“Bother isn’t the word I’d use,” I manage, shifting slightly in my seat.
Her fingers slide higher. “What word would you use?”
I glance at her, and the look in her eyes tells me she knows exactly what she’s doing. Heat floods through me, settling low.
“Dangerous,” I say, voice dropping. “You’re being dangerous.”
She laughs, soft and breathy, and it goes straight through me. “We’re in a car, Beau. What’s dangerous about that?”
“The fact that I’m trying to drive and all I can think about is how fast I can pull over and push this seat back so I can drag you across my lap.”
Her breath hitches, and I catch the way her thighs press together. Good. I’m not the only one affected here. I force my eyes back to the road because if I keep looking at her like that, we’re not making it anywhere.
“But we’re not pulling over,” I say. “You’re going to sit there and be patient because this time, I want to take my time with you.” I peer over, catching the flush that spreads across her cheeks. “I want you desperate by the time we get home. So worked up you’re begging me before I even touch you.”
“That’s not fair,” she breathes.
“No?” My voice drops lower. “You want to know what I’m thinking about right now, Red?”
“Beau.”
“I’m thinking about how wet you already are. How I’m going to make you wait until you’re shaking before I put my mouth on you.”
Her breath comes faster now, shallow and uneven. I can see her chest rising and falling in my peripheral.
“And when I do taste you,” I continue, “I’m going to take my time. I’m going to lick you so slow you’ll be crying for me to go faster. But I won’t. Not until you’re begging so pretty I can’t stand it anymore.”
“Jesus, Beau.” Her voice breaks.
“You want to know what else I’m thinking about?” I press her palm down harder on my thigh. “I’m thinking about how tight you are when I’m inside you. How you clench around me when you’re close. The way you say my name when you come.”
She lets out a soft whimper that nearly makes me lose my grip on the wheel. Thank god we’re almost to my place.
We finally pull up to my driveway, and I kill the engine. “Get inside. Now.”
She tilts her head, that sly smirk crossing her face. “You know what, Beau? No. I think you owe me.”
“I’m sorry?”
“Just for tonight, I want to do what I want with you. You follow my lead. You owe me, Sinclair.”
For a second, I just stare at her. Control’s always been my thing when it comes to sex. I like calling the shots, setting the pace, and owning the space. She’s the only woman alive I would even consider giving that to. I trust her to understand what it costs me to let go.
