The smile comes back. “Better.”

I walk toward her, the flash drive still in my hand.

Tomorrow, Bishop can figure out what the fuck is on it.

Tonight, Callie is home, injured but alive.

I put the drive on the counter beside my phone.

“Can I have my phone? I want to get on socials.”

My thoughts immediately go to the burner phone.

Fuck. I need to tell her.

Callie watches me. “What?”

“I have to tell you something.”

Her eyes narrow.

I grab the burner phone that I have hidden in a cabinet she can’t reach. Then I return to her.

“Why do you have two phones?”

I exhale, hating myself for what I’m about to do.

“Remember James?”

Callie stares at me. “James?”

“Yeah.”

Her eyes narrow. “What about him?”

I unlock the burner and pull up the Instagram account. Then I hand her the phone.

Her eyes move over the screen. Then they widen. “I KNEW IT!”

Alibi's head shoots up.

“I fucking knew it!” She points the phone at me. “You were James!”

“Yes.”

“I knew you were James!”

“You suspected.”

“Haha! You were stalking me while I was stalking you.”

I put a hand on her shoulder before she can jump up and start dancing.
