"Bishop…"

I brush my thumb across her bottom lip again, and then very, very slowly lean in to press my lips to the corner of her mouth. "Go on home, songbird. Before I convince myself that maybe you don't need to go at all."

She whimpers softly, her fingers flexing in mine, and I know she wants me to kiss her—really kiss her—just as badly as I want to do it. But…not yet. Not until she's had time to sit with what she's feeling. Not until I've had time to wrap my head around what I'm feeling.

I pull back slowly, my heart a war drum in my chest. "Will you be here again tomorrow?" I ask.

"Monday."

I have to wait three days to see her again? Fuck.

"Then I'll see you on Monday," I murmur, not loving the thought. Maybe it's for the best, though. It'll give her plenty of time to realize she misses me.

"I…" She exhales an unsteady breath, then settles for nodding again. "See you then, Bishop."

She doesn't move, though, not right away. Instead, she just stands there, staring at me like she's trying to figure me out. Or maybe like she's trying to figure herself out. I'm not sure. Eventually, however, she gives her head a slight shake and takes a quick step back.

Her hands shake as she grabs her bag and the pizza box.

I shove mine into my pockets, away from temptation.

She hurries to the driver's side of her car, then pauses, turning to look at me again. Those big brown eyes lock onto my face, confusion and something far more vulnerable written into every line of her face. I'm not sure what she's looking for, but she searches my expression as if hoping for some sort of answer.

I don't think she finds it, because she sighs softly, shaking her head again. "Bye, Bishop," she whispers.

"See you Monday, songbird."

Chapter Four

Bishop

"You're a crabby bastard."

I flick my gaze up at Blaze, who smirks at me from the opposite side of the table in the mess hall. "Fuck off."

"Told you," he mutters.

I just grunt, taking a bite of my sausage and eggs. It tastes like sawdust. Actually, everything tastes like sawdust, and I know damn well that's not because there's anything wrong with the food. Letty works magic in the kitchen. The problem is me. Rather, the problem is that I haven't been able to get Callie off my mind all weekend. It's only Saturday, and I'm already losing my mind.

Monday cannot come quickly enough.

Sadly, it's taking its goddamn time getting here.

Maybe I am a crabby bastard.

And maybe my dick is chafing.

"Calamity told me a secret," Blaze says a moment later.

I pause with my fork halfway to my lips, not sure if I want to take the bait. It's clearly bait. Blaze is as wild as his wife. I never realized how annoying he was until right this moment, however.

"I'd hope she tells you all her secrets," I finally say, shoveling another bite into my mouth. "Otherwise, you got problems that baby in her belly ain't gonna solve, brother."

Wade snorts from his other side, holding out his fist for me to bump. At least he's on my side in this. Morgan has him doing her a favor right now too. Judging by the fact that he just rolled in an hour ago, I'm guessing his favor is going better than mine. Or hell, maybe it's going worse. I guess it depends on how you look at it, doesn't it?

Blaze flips me off, that smirk still firmly in place. "She saw your girl at the gym yesterday."

I freeze.
