My legs are sore and not working right as I limp for the door. I try to get the key in the lock, but I can see him getting to his feet. My movements are erratic, and I keep missing the hole.
A whimper escapes my lips as I slip the key into the lock and turn the knob. I get the door open just as I’m rammed from behind and slammed so hard into the wood that everything goes black.
“You fucking bitch.”
Grabbing my hair in his fist, he drags me across the floor. I scream at the top of my lungs. I scream loud enough to wake the dead, and this time I don’t stop screaming, even as he forces me face first onto the bed.
My voice is hoarse as I wail, and pray, and beg for God to help me or kill me. I can’t live the rest of my life like this.
A loud bang reverberates through the room like a gun going off, and I jerk, thinking that he’s shot me. My body is in so much agony, but I don’t feel anything new, and then there is a voice. Deep, sensual, and angry.
“What the fuck are you doing?”
“None of your fucking business,” the man who has me says.
“Like fuck it isn’t,” the new voice roars.
The weight pushing me down onto the bed is suddenly gone, followed by a loud thud.
I sit up, my hair covering my face, and look around frantically, trying to see out of my good eye. Two men are fighting against the wall. One of them is the man who raped me. The other one is younger and seems stronger.
Not taking any chances, I grab the shirt off the floor and run. As I pass the two men, the new guy glances at me, and just for a moment, the world slows like a movie.
He’s not much older than I am, with midnight black hair, sharp blue eyes, a chiseled jaw, and wearing a mask of rage. He has the vile piece of shit who just stole my virginity up against the wall. They look too much alike not to be related. My guess is a son. Every feature is burned into my mind like a photograph.
God has heard my prayers and sent an angel. A dark, dangerous, avenging angel, and then I’m out of the room and racing for the stairs.
There is a coat by the door, and running shoes that look like they belong to a woman. I hastily pull on the shirt, coat, and shoes, and run out into the night with no clue where to go. The gate and fence still loom high into the night sky, but I have to get off this property.
I can’t breathe. I slam into the metal bars, trying to get them to budge, but they don’t, and I fly back, landing on my ass. My hands scrape against the gravel, and the tears flow harder.
“Hey, it’s going to be okay,” a voice says softly.
I look back to see a shadow right behind me. With a screech, I whip around and push myself back on the rocks. They bite into my ass, legs, and hands, but I don’t care until my back hits the bars.
It’s the guy who burst into the room.
I turn my face away, covering it with my long brown hair as humiliation mixes with fear. He is the sexiest guy I’ve ever seen, and he just saw…saw what his father did to me. He fought with his father to get me out of the room, but he may still kill me to keep this quiet. Rich people are all the same.
“Please don’t kill me,” I say, realizing as I slur that my tongue and lips are swollen. “I won’t tell, just let me go.”
He doesn’t come any closer but slowly squats down.
“I’m not going to let anyone hurt you. But you do need to go to a hospital.”
I shake my head.
“I can’t just open the gate and let you run down the road. There is no one around for miles, and there are animals, and…look, I know you don’t have any reason to believe me, but I just want to help you. Let me take you to a hospital.”
“I can’t.”
“Why?”
“I can’t pay.”
I’ve got nothing, no one. I’m all alone.
“I’ll pay, and then I’ll take you home.”
