And I hadn’t been getting it from anyone else either. My hand had become my new best friend. I knew whose pussy I would slide up in the next time I had sex, and Yara deserved more than to be a side bitch. When that happened, I wanted to be sure that my marriage was almost over or already over, and I wanted her to understand that too. In my head, that time had come.

“You need to be worried about me divorcing yo’ ass instead of who I’m gettin’ pussy from,” I warned.

She gasped as I walked back out the door. If I didn’t leave now, I would fuck her up and mess up everything I had planned for her.

She had no idea that divorce was on the horizon regardless, but in order for me to make it through these next couple of weeks, I needed to put some fear in her heart. Hopefully that would make her act like she had some fuckin’ sense.

Yara sat with her head on her desk. I couldn’t help it. I placed my hand on her back and asked, “You good?”

She jumped up. “S-sorry, Gino. I couldn’t confirm the consult because I wasn’t sure who it was for.”

I eyed her. “It’s okay if you needed a second to rest. I know you ain’t feelin’ good.”

She looked down at her desk. “I’ll be okay.”

I pulled my phone out and tapped on the calendar. I found the consult on Anyia’s calendar. It was for one o’clock. We had forty-five minutes, so I pulled a chair from an empty office and sat behind Yara’s desk with her. I confirmed the consult from my phone and then tucked it away.

“I brought you lunch. I heard you had to miss your appointment last night. This is an apology from me on behalf of Aniya.”

I couldn’t bring myself to say my wife. I nodded toward the plastic bag on the desk.

Her eyes ballooned. “Oh, thank you. You didn’t have to do that.”

She timidly grabbed the bag and opened the box inside. Her eyes lit up. “A baked potato and salmon . . . How did you know?”

I chuckled. Baby didn’t know I remembered everything about her. “In the breakroom a few months back. When your flares started up again, you said one of your safe meals was a baked potato with sour cream and salmon. I stopped by my favorite restaurant on the way here and had them hook it up for you.”

Her eyes watered again, and I saw how tired she was.

Hang in there a little longer, baby. Daddy’s comin’ to save you.

“Thank you, Gino. Really. I didn’t have time to grab anything this morning, and eating might help my stomach settle a bit so I can do this consult.”

“Don’t worry about the consult. I’ll do it for you. You think you can manage taggin’ along wit’ me, though? ’Cause I don’t know shit about interior designin’.”

She gazed into my eyes for a moment, as if she tried to figure something out, before she murmured, “Yes, I can manage that.”

“Bet. After that, you can go home.”

“But Aniya, I mean, Mrs. Grant—”

“Aniya gon’ be aight. You can go home and rest.”

“Thank you,” she whispered.

I watched as she picked up the plastic fork inside the bag and took a few bites of her lunch.

After a few minutes, I noticed she fidgeted, and my brows pulled in. “You good?”

She glanced at me, and her pretty brown skin tinted red. “I can feel you watching me.”

“Does that make you uncomfortable?”

She shook her head. “But it might make your wife uncomfortable.”

My mouth balled up. “I don’t give a fuck.”

Yara’s mouth dropped. “What?”
