I’m dressed in leggings and his Hawkeyes hoodie, with my hair clipped up and a bag over my shoulder. Apparently, the considerable amount of time I spent getting ready hasn’t given him enough time to hand over my coffee.

I set my bag on a stool and step closer. He puts the mug behind him before sliding his hand around my waist.

Four days ago, I was explaining why we shouldn’t kiss again. This morning, I woke up with my leg over his and his hand on my ass. I’m not sure how I’m supposed to defend that particular development to anyone, so I’m concentrating on getting coffee instead.

I kiss him, holding the front of his shirt when he pulls me closer. His other hand settles against my back, and I forget about the mug until he lifts his head.

"Good morning."

"Yes. We’ve established that."

He laughs and finally hands it over.

"Are you using Sprinkles today?"

"No. Ellie’s coming supply shopping with me. We’re taking her car."

"Good. I’m going to take a look at her after practice. Pops gave me a couple of things to try."

I lower my mug. "Wolf, your shoulder. You shouldn’t be doing anything but resting it when you get home."

"I’m not taking the engine out, Baylor. But I can’t have my girlfriend driving around in a truck that could leave her stranded at any minute."

"Girlfriend?"

He looks at me over his coffee. "That’s the part you heard?"

"We agreed this was temporary. Two weeks, remember?"

"Just because it has an expiration date doesn’t make it less real. I’m not seeing anyone else. Are you?"

"No."

"Then what would you call this?"

I look down at my mug, but that doesn’t stop the smile spreading across my face. Apparently, I like being called his girlfriend. That should make things considerably more difficult when I’m supposed to stop being one.

Wolf sets his coffee down and comes closer.

"So, is that a yes?"

"To you working on my truck?"

"And to being my girlfriend for the next two weeks. I’ll ask about the truck again once I’ve got that settled."

I laugh, then look up at him. "Until my kitchen is finished," I remind him.

"Okay."

"And you stop if your shoulder hurts."

"Now we’re back to the truck?"

"Yes. Try to keep up."

He grins and holds out his hand.

I get the keys from my bag. "I’m paying for anything it needs."
