“Can I call you back? Baby, please, I need to get off the phone.”
She hung up in my face.
“Fuck, man. I’m back,” I said when I clicked back over.
“They are moving north away from you. Truck twenty-two is moving back towards your way. You have a turn coming up in about two miles to the right. If you take that and continue that road for another two miles and hit that curve to the left, you should meet right up with the unmarked truck and miss truck twenty-two.”
“Bet.”
I followed his directions as he stayed on the phone tracking the box truck with my shit on it. I would handle my driver later because I couldn’t wait to hear the lie the muthafucka came up with. Right now, I needed my product back.
“I see you. The truck is about a mile up the road.”
It felt like it took me forever to get to that truck. A part of me wanted to know where my shit was going, but I didn’t have the time to be going in unchartered territory. We were outside of the city at this point, and I didn’t know who or what I was up against.
“Aight, fly in closer and take the back tires out.”
I paid his nerdy ass a lot of money to sit at home and utilize his fucking devices he would never use legally. I fell back in a few yards because when he blew them bitches out, I knew the truck was going to lose control. He took the back tires out, and the driver swerved trying to get control of the truck, but it was too heavy, and he ended up almost flipping into the ditch.
“’Preciate you. Stay around for a few more minutes. I need you to be my eyes above. I already got another truck en route to me and they should be here shortly. I need the roads blocked off so no one can travel this road while we make this switch. Can you make that happen for me?”
“It ain’t like I’m doing shit else.”
I pulled behind the truck and grabbed my gun. This was the lifestyle my brother wanted no part of, but was dragged into it for a short part of his life. That was the part that Averie always mentioned. You had to be grimy and have a don’t give a fuck about a nigga life attitude in this shit. I snatched the driver’s side door open to see a woman knocked out on the steering wheel. On the passenger side, I could see a male barely clinging to life. I had a better chance with the bitch. I put a bullet in the nigga and took the seat belt off the woman and dragged her ass out the truck.
Minutes later, I had two dump trucks, a box truck, and a tow truck. The dump trucks were solely for appearance. They were dressed up like road workers to distract anyone that was able to slide through the roadblocks ahead.
“What you need, Meek?” one of my boys asked.
“Chain this bitch up and throw her in the back of the dump truck.”
The other box truck backed up and we went to work to switch the pallets. We worked as quick as we could. The sun was going down, and I needed to get back to the city.
“Aye, take this nigga and this truck and get rid of it. I don’t want shit left of this muthafucka. Not a bone or a piece of fuckin’ metal from this raggedy muthafucka.”
“I got you, Bruh.”
Before I could get back in my truck and pull off, one of my dispatchers was calling.
“What?”
“Shameek, truck twenty-two just pulled back up to the warehouse.”
“Oh yeah.”
“Yeah, said he got robbed.”
I hated a lying muthafucka. If he was dumb enough to think I would believe that, he deserved to get what was coming to him.
“I’ll be there in an hour,” I said, hanging up.
I followed the dump truck and box truck back to the warehouse. To make the shit believable, I had them wait outside until I signaled for them to come in. I needed to have a conversation with my driver first just to see if the nigga had the heart to tell me the truth. As soon as I pulled in and the doors closed behind my truck, he ran up to me.
“Meek, they got me, Bruh.”
I didn’t say anything. I got out and slammed my door. He had caused so much bullshit for the day. I went from getting my dick rode to meeting my pops at another warehouse to discuss business to chasing down my fucking product. Now that I had my shit back, I was able to let my Pops know why I had to leave in such a hurry.
“Who got you?” I asked calmly.
