“We will be. Without a doubt. I’ve already got Brianna and Des on tap to work the sample table.” His eyes light up like fireworks.

“Oh, Destiny’s going to be there?”

Here we go.

“Yes, nigga, she will be. Now can we get some food or are we just eating air today?” Skizzy pulls out his pen and pad, “Of course. What y’all got for me, bro?”

“Ummm. A number four for me,” Morgan answers, pointing to the picture. “That’s one Skizz special! Loaded. Extra thick with a vein.”

A brat loaded with cheese, potatoes, bacon and a jalapeno pepper on the side.

“And as for you, bro?” “A number five.”

“Ahh, so that’ll be a Glizzi…”

He’s not finishing that sentence, “Nah. I said a number five. Just a number five.”

“Ohh. Gotcha,” he points to his temple like we’re in sync, “I’ll get this right in for you.” “Appreciated.”

He’s handed a fifty dollar bill, with me telling him to keep the change. Skizzy makes sure everything is situated with our order before leaving the truck completely. His apron is covered in grease as sweat drips from his forehead. The smell of pork is ruminating from his pores.

“Aye, can I holla at you for a second, big bro?”

“Of course.” We step to the side as Morgan chats with Leah. Probably to promote her lounge to her.

“So, um, I’ve gotta ask you something,” he says, sounding nervous. “Everything alright?”

“Oh, yeah, yeah. I just need some advice.” “Shoot.”

“But it’s about your sister.” “Skizz…”

“Nah, man just hear me out,” he barks, catching me off guard, “Look, I’ve been taking these anger management classes. And I appreciate you paying for them too. And since me and Destiny are pretty cool again…”

“You want my permission to date her again.”

“The right way this time.”

“What exactly is the right way, Skizz? Because last time we were in this situation, I had to smash a cereal bowl over your head because you were getting out of hand.”

“And I still have the scar to remember,” he points towards the back of his head, “Thanks by the way. I still jump anytime I see a box of Crunch Berries. But what I’m saying is, I’ve always loved Destiny, bro.”

“Cool. She’s a very loved girl. What does that have to do with you dating her again?”

“Aw, come on, big bro.”

“Aight, aight, look,” I place a hand on his shoulder, “I’d be lying if I said I didn’t notice how her body language changes when she mentions you. And you clearly aren’t the same cat from before. I’m just very overprotective of my sister, Skizzy.”

“I know.”

“Good. So, then you know what happens if you hurt her again, right?” “Thrown through the wall?”

I shake my head.

“Nah. More like a grave.”

His face straightens, “Oh…”

I place a finger to his temple in the shape of a gun to really emphasize my point. His eyes bulge almost out of his head once the realization kicks in.
