One of many mistakes I made in my marriage.
But nothing I did compares to what she did.
“Uh uh.” She wags her pointer finger at me. “You’re thinking about your exes—that’s not allowed.”
I nod. “You’re right. Sorry. She loved Paris. It reminded me.”
“Where’s a place she hated?” she asks.
I frown. “The beach. Didn’t like to get sand in her shoes. Didn’t like her hair getting messed up. Constantly worried about skin cancer and the sun. Like, almost obsessed with it.”
She rolls her eyes. “Look, I don’t leave the house without sunscreen, but that’s a bit much.” She wiggles her eyebrows. “And I love the beach. Hawaii, the Gulf Coast in Florida, Spain…lots of fabulous beaches in the world.”
“I really like the beach at Cape Sounion in Greece,” I say as she moves back into my arms. With my free hand, I circle her waist and she moves to the beat. I don’t even recognize the song but she does, because she’s bobbing her head and singing the words, something about a motherfucking mountain and a rock.
Before I know it, we’ve got two more drinks and we’re both sweaty because the only time she leaves the dance floor is to get drinks. We get two at a time, and I don’t know how many we’ve had because I’m imagining licking the sweat off her. Maybe down the middle of her boobs.
Fuck, I’ve been sporting a semi for what seems like hours.
And once again, she’s reading my mind. Kissing me just like she did before, lips warm and soft against mine. She tastes like the Blanton’s we’ve been drinking, which is one of my favorite things, and I’m ready to devour her.
“Ready to go?” she breathes softly, lips still a whisper away from mine.
“You coming back to my hotel with me?”
“I have to be in midtown at nine, and the Marriott Marquis isn’t far from here. I live all the way uptown. I can sleep half an hour longer if I’m with you.”
I chuckle. “You think you’ll be sleeping?”
“I guess we’ll see.”
This time, I take her hand and pull her toward the exit. I let Simon know I would probably be taking off with Maya and haven’t seen him in at least an hour. I don’t know what she told her friends but she doesn’t even look back when we get outside. And as luck would have it, there’s a row of taxis waiting for drunk club-goers to get rides.
We slide into one and she ends up with one ass cheek on my thigh. She laughs, wraps an arm around my neck, and settles her whole bottom on my lap. Fuck, she feels good.
I give the driver the name of my hotel and then kiss her again. We’re both hot and sweaty after dancing all night, but it’s sexy. Warm. And I still want to lick every inch of her.
Our mouths fuse together, her tongue slides against mine, and I feel hard nipples poking against my chest. Those are going to be in my mouth in just a few minutes because the hotel isn’t far. Then I’m going to spread her out on the bed and feast on her, inch by glorious inch.
“You have condoms, right?” she asks as the taxi slows to a stop.
I hand the driver a twenty as I say, “absolutely,” and she gets out of the taxi with me behind her. My cock is wide awake, pressing against my jeans, and anyone who looks in that direction will know exactly what was happening in that taxi.
Maya notices and smiles, pressing her back to my front, and tugging one of my arms around her waist. We walk into the hotel that way, but the moment we’re alone in the elevator, she turns back to me, kissing me hungrily.
Like she needs this almost as bad as I do.
“You better not be bad in bed,” she murmurs, and I can’t tell if she’s talking to me or to herself.
“Not a chance in hell.” I can afford to be confident about that because I know I don’t suck in bed. If anything, I’m generous to a fault.
I dig out my room key as the elevator doors open, and we practically sprint toward my room. She can move in those stilettos and we’re both laughing as I try to unlock the door, swiping once, twice, three times before the lock disengages.
“Wasn’t sure we were going to make it,” she whispers, turning to me with wide light eyes—I still can’t tell what color they are—that are currently filled with unadulterated desire.
“We were always going to make it,” I say. “Now come here.” I pull her against me and go right back to kissing her.
But now I don’t have to hold back.
