Taking it out on her was unfortunate, but hopefully she’ll go back to her life in New York and I won’t have to see her again.

I just have to get through the rest of today.

And watch her flirt and laugh with every guy in the room.

Blaze is gay and he’s been hanging on her every word.

Well, she’s beautiful.

Smart.

Successful.

And a lot of fun to be around.

I should be over there, hanging out with them, but I don’t dare. Not after our somewhat awkward reunion.

“Whatcha doin’?” Simon comes over to me and arches a brow.

Like he knows something is up.

“Chillin’,” I reply calmly.

“Why aren’t you over there chatting with Reid and Maya?”

I lift one shoulder. “No interest, I guess.”

He laughs. “Come on, we both know why you’re not over there. Did she tell you to stay away so her brother doesn’t find out you guys hooked up or are you being your usual antisocial self?”

“I’m not antisocial!” I protest.

He chuckles. “Dude, you are so antisocial. Except with the kids. Even at home, you’d rather sit in your room than hang with us.”

“I hang with you…”

Don’t I?

I mean, we haven’t been living together all that long. I thought I was being polite. Giving everyone space so we could gradually get to know each other.

Now it appears the guys think I’m…antisocial?

“Look, you do you,” Simon says. “Just letting you know that you’ve been a little standoffish. People notice.”

I frown. “What do you mean, people notice? Are people talking about me?”

“Nothing bad,” he says quietly. “Just that you keep to yourself a lot.”

“Since when is minding your own business a bad thing?”

“It’s not. But this team is special and we’re building something important. That’s why we’ve taken Blaze under our collective wings, so to speak.”

“Yeah, yeah.”

I hate admitting he might be right.

“So, this was a roundabout way of asking, why are you avoiding her?”

“I did something stupid,” I admit finally. He’s not letting this go, so I might as well tell him the truth. “I think I offended her.”
