I chuckle. “I think it’s something like me, inside you, now.”
“Very good. Chop chop.”
And because I love her more than anything, I table any and all thoughts of conversation. Then I’m inside her and I couldn’t tell you what I wanted to talk about.
“This,” she whispers. “This is when you’re most vulnerable, when I can see right into your soul.”
“Is it?” I look down at the most gorgeous woman I know. “Do you see how much my soul loves you?”
“I do.”
“I don’t want to hold you back, Maya. I want my love to boost you up, in whatever way you need. I can’t be the reason you don’t go to New Zealand or Atlantis or anywhere else.”
“You’re not,” she whispers. “I just realized that I’d bitten off more than I can chew but instead of focusing on what things I actually want, I just shut it all down.”
“Your brother said I broke you—and that broke me.”
“You didn’t break me. I was just nursing a broken heart and temporarily out of commission.”
“And now?”
“Now you’re giving me the boost I need to figure out what I want. And right now, what I want is you.”
“I’m right here, baby.” I drop my mouth to hers and kiss her as I move. My hips grind against hers and there’s no way I’m going to hold out more than a few minutes. I want to but my body has a mind of its own sometimes, especially when I’ve been without my girl for two long, hellacious weeks.
“More,” she whispers, her pussy fluttering around me.
“I’m not going to last long if you keep doing that,” I groan.
“That’s the idea.” She lifts her hips and wraps one leg around my back.
She’s slick and warm and I take greedy pulls of her tongue as I thrust in and out. I want to take my time but I can’t. It’s simply beyond the realm of possibility after we’ve been apart for so long.
“Please, Cash.” The words disappear into my mouth and I feel her jerk and tighten. “Oh, God!” I slam my mouth back onto hers to drown out her screams as she bucks beneath me. And then I growl like a damn bear as I empty myself inside her.
Hopefully, Reid and Nolan haven’t come home yet.
Maya doesn’t seem worried about it, her eyes still closed and a soft smile playing on her lips.
“Now that’s what I call getting back together,” she whispers.
“Uh huh.”
We lay there for a while and I finally roll over when she says she has to go to the bathroom.
Five minutes later we’re curled up under the blankets, with me on my back and her head on my chest. I run my fingers through her hair and wait for her to say something.
“You still want to talk?” she asks.
“Only if you want to.”
“I don’t. Not tonight. I just want to rest. Spend time with you this weekend. Get our bearings.”
“Are you going to the store tomorrow?” I ask.
She nods. “I promised Jayne I would. She ordered a handful of low-cost special editions from some local author specifically for Black Friday, and she’s worried she might be mobbed. Right now, she only has one employee so we’ve all been helping when we can. Plus, we got a few damaged sets of pajamas—the size is misprinted on a few and they screwed up the logo on a few others—so we’re selling those at cost since we got replacements.”
“Maybe I could spend a little time with Nolan while you’re working, so I can get to know him.”
