In moments, she was on the verge of rolling him under her and going for a third time.
“Fuck!”
Heath sat up, pulling away from her.
He turned, nearly tangling his legs up with hers and that’s when she saw it.
Or rather she saw him.
Ebi.
The damn cat had its claws in the back of Heath’s briefs.
The waistband in the back pulled dangerously low and she could see Ebi’s sharp claws pulling on the fabric.
“God damn it!”
“Don’t move!” Mari scrambled to sit up but with Heath’s position, she couldn’t get all the way up, leaving her leaning over his thigh as she made a grab for the cat. “Let go of him, you little doofus!”
Heath hissed in pain. “Don’t call her names while she’s got her claws in my ass.”
That did it.
Mari burst out laughing and barely managed to smother the rest of it as she pried Ebi’s little claws away from Heath.
There was a distinct rip of cotton as Ebi left her mark in more than one way.
“Sorry.”
Heath got up from the bed, his bare feet on the floorboards.
He reached back a hand to rub while Mari scooted to the edge of the bed, the orange demon between her hands.
Now without her claws in Heath, Ebi seemed docile, almost limp.
Mari turned the beast around and looked into her round, seemingly guileless eyes. “Have you lost what’s left of your brain cells? All three of them?”
Ebi yawned and her mouth pulled into something that reminded her of a smile.
“Now, I need you to be a good girl, right,” she muttered under her breath, “and don’t try to draw blood again. Okay?”
Ebi tilted her oval head, her ears laid flat like a kitten. She blinked at Mari as if she was speaking a language she didn’t understand.
Which was true, since apparently everything she heard spoken in human just registered in her little pea brain as ‘Go ahead, do stupid and spoiled things.’
Shaking her head, Mari put her down, but before the little dork ran off, she turned her head in Heath’s direction and swept her tail back and forth.
With one elegant and slow-motion swish, she turned on her paws and walked out of the room.
Mari sighed and apologized to Heath. “I’m really sorry about her. I don’t know what she was thinking.”
Heath rubbed at his butt again. “I think she was trying to peel off my flesh.”
Mari moved closer and stepped behind him, reaching for the waistband of his boxer briefs.
He flinched a little. “Careful.”
She rolled her eyes. “I’m not going to claw your back.”
