“You introduced us, Blake. You didn’t force us to get married.”
He nods against my neck and wraps his arms around me. My arms go around his neck. And for a moment, we just stay there, hugging in silence as I breathe Blake in.
And I get that feeling again, that something is happening between us. But I don’t know if I can trust it. I don’t know if I can trust Blake not to turn around and introduce me to another friend rather than date me himself, for no reason that I can understand.
Chapter Twenty-One
Blake
“Maybe it’s time for us to stop,” Amelia says.
I pull my arms tighter around her. “Stop?”
“I don’t want to come between you and Ethan. And this was only supposed to be temporary anyway…”
This is it. This is my way out. This is the path Scarlett told me to take if I didn’t want to break her heart. So why do I feel like mine is about to burst. Why do I feel like it’d be easier to stop breathing than to let her go?
I rub my nose on her neck and breathe. I brush my lips against the soft skin behind her ear. “I don’t want to stop.”
Saying those words makes my heart tighten. I don’t know that I’ve ever spoken truer words in my life.
“What do you want?” she whispers, as if she’s afraid to break this spell over us.
“You.”
Her head turns to face me, and our lips brush. That is all it takes for me to lose all control. I grab the back of her neck, and I kiss her. I kiss her like I’ve never kissed before. I can taste the desperation in me, smell it in the air. It is as if I am begging her to have me with this kiss.
And after a second, she kisses me back. Soon she’s grabbing at me as greedily as I am her. And I need more. I paw at her clothes. I break buttons getting her shirt off. I pull her bra off over her head when it doesn’t unclip on my first try. But I don’t stop there. I unzip her skirt and pull it down her hips, underwear and all. Then I pull off her shoes and let them fall to the floor. Only then do I pause to watch Amelia sitting naked on my kitchen counter. It’s a sight I never want to forget.
I kiss her again, but this time my hands are everywhere, down her back, on her breasts, her waist, her belly, her legs. She pulls on the top of my T-shirt, but I’m not interested in getting naked just yet. I push on her shoulder until she’s leaning back on her elbows, and I pull one of her legs up over my shoulder, exposing her to me.
“Blake?” Her voice is soft, hesitant.
I drop my nose between her folds and breathe her in.
Fuck. I’m a goner.
“I’m going to finish what we started on my truck. But this time, I don’t give a fuck who walks through that door, I’m not stopping for anyone.”
“You could lock it,” she says, perfectly reasonably.
I smile. But I’m not moving away from her to lock a door. I’m not moving away from her for anything. I lick her in one languid stroke opening her folds with my tongue and slipping her clit in my mouth when I reach the top.
I circle with my tongue before sucking lightly.
Amelia lets out a high squawk and practically jumps off the counter.
Her eyes are wide with shock. And I’ve never hated Ethan more.
Why didn’t he touch her this way? Why didn’t he suck her clit every day? He had her in his bed every night, why didn’t he take care of her?
And a small voice deep inside me answers, Because she’s not his, she’s mine.
I tighten my hold on her leg and bring my other hand to her breast, pressing her back down to lie on the counter. Then, when I know she’s safe, I suck again.
She grabs my head with one hand.
And again.
