“Hello,” I answer the phone.
“My offer still stands.” Blake’s deep voice growls.
A shiver runs down my spine.
“Wh-what offer?”
He smiles and his eyes narrow, and I feel pinned by a dangerous predator.
“Anytime, anywhere.”
I can’t help but turn my head to look at Ethan. He has both hands on Charlotte’s ass and his tongue down her throat.
It causes a weird mix of emotions inside me. Anger flares while, at the same time, my mind conjures up an image of Blake and me in that position, and my belly tightens with desire.
“I’ll bang him out of your system if that’s what you want.”
He’s repeating my own words but this time they don’t sound funny, and they make the spot between my legs achy and needy, his voice is so low, dangerous, it makes the hairs on my arms rise.
“Okay,” I whisper, still looking at Ethan because I’m too embarrassed to look Blake in the eyes.
“Tell Bryce you want to leave, and ask if he can clean up after the party. And meet me in my apartment in twenty minutes. I’ll leave the back door open."
Oh. So by anytime, he meant right NOW!
I think of a clever thing to answer but he’s already hung up the phone. I look back in time to see him swing his bag over his shoulder and wave goodbye to his friends.
Twenty minutes…
If I thought I felt exposed before, I feel naked now. I find Bryce, feeling like everyone knows I’m on my way to have sex.
“Hey Bryce. I’d like to leave early. Would you mind cleaning up the party?”
Bryce glares at Ethan. “No. Of course. Go! Have fun at Avery’s. I’ll take care of it.”
“Thanks.”
I give him a quick hug, feeling like a fraud.
Chapter Eleven
Amelia
I feel like a thief breaking in as I open the Den’s back door, looking over my shoulder to make sure no one sees me.
I walk up the narrow staircase, my heart beating louder than my footsteps on the creaky old wooden steps.
I check my watch one more time. It’s been exactly twenty-three minutes.
I stare at Blake’s door. I’ve only been here a couple of times before, always with Ethan.
What am I doing?
I’m so nervous my hand is shaking. This is not a good idea. But I can’t get the image of Ethan and Charlotte making out in front of everybody out of my head. We’ve only been separated for a month. And he has no trouble embarrassing me this way. I should embarrass him for a change. He deserves that I sleep with his best friend.
I knock on the door loudly before I lose my nerve.
The door opens immediately.
