Cleo nodded. “Not only that, but it doesn’t respond to Apexian energy. It’s a worrying development.”

Rexx thumped the table. “If word of this gets out on the open market, our enemies will clamor to get their hands on this poison.”

“That won’t happen,” Ash said. “The poison didn’t respond to my energy because it’s not something I’ve encountered before. I know it now. Next time, an energy transfer will work.”

“You don’t know that for sure,” Georgia said. “Maybe this is something that will stop an Apexian in his tracks.”

“Not possible,” Rexx said.

“Sadly, it is. And we need to make sure that doesn’t happen,” Daisy said.

“Either way, we need to make sure that poison is destroyed, along with all the information on how to replicate it,” Cleo said. “And they’re working on mass-producing it and rushing through the development. They’re dealing with an unstable, dangerous toxin. And if it gets into the wrong hands—”

“It’s already in the wrong hands,” Georgia said. “Did the data reveal who’s behind this?”

Cleo looked down at her tablet. “I’m getting to that.”

“You know who it is?” Georgia leaned closer. “Tell us.”

Cleo lifted her gaze. She looked at Ash then Georgia. “It’s the Siblet.”

Georgia leaned back, her hand going to her stomach where there were numerous small puncture scars from her encounter with the Siblet.

Ash gripped her elbow. “You’re good. Take a breath. They can’t get you here.”

“I know. Don’t worry about me.” Even though she was in a room with Apexians, friends, and a boss who’d never let her down, Georgia’s vision blurred as horrific memories crashed into her.

Fuck! Why couldn’t it have been anyone but the Siblet? They knew her weaknesses and would destroy her.

“Georgia, you don’t have to be here,” Cleo said. “This was your mission, and you found the data, so I owed it to you to share everything. But I understand if you want out.”

“Of course. No one will hold it against you,” Daisy said.

Rexx and Hunter both nodded.

Sloane winked at her. “We got your back, girl. You say the word, and those Siblet are toast.”

Georgia shook her head, hating seeing sympathy in Sloane’s eyes. “I can handle this. I want to know everything. And I should have known the Siblet were behind this. Rexx even suggested it. It’s just the kind of disgusting thing they’d do.”

“They’ve been great at covering their tracks,” Cleo said. “This is the first definitive proof we’ve had. And it gets worse. They want an army of lethal hybrids they can control, and they plan to stabilize and mass-produce this poison and use it against the Apexians.”

Georgia sucked in a breath. “They’re planning a war on the Apexians?”

“And anyone else who stands in their way. All the information we’ve discovered suggests that’s exactly where they’re headed.” Cleo looked at Ash. “I’ve sent the information to your leaders. They’re making their own plans, but we’re at the forefront of this. We’ve got the intel, and we know what the Siblets’ next move will be.”

“And what’s that?” Georgia said.

“We’ve got the location for where they’re taking the white tails. It’s a new breeding clinic, so they can continue their experiments.”

“Then we go there.” She pushed away from the table.

“We will. We’re planning a rescue mission and working out how to shut down their operations and arrest any Siblet involved.”

“How far up the chain of command does this go?” Rexx said.

“We’ve been in touch with Siblet leaders. They’re denying all knowledge of this,” Hunter said.

“Of course they are,” Ash said. “I bet they said it was a renegade group that’s broken away. That’s always the line they use when they’re doing something shitty and get caught.”
