DAY FIVE

The past few days they’d spent together had been a whirlwind. Sevyn had been so wrapped up in the happiness she felt with him that she hadn’t come up for air.

She didn’t care, either. As if all of their puzzle pieces had finally fit into place, things between the two flowed seamlessly. Whatever ill feelings she’d had towards him enough to want to intentionally hurt him had long dissipated.

Sevyn was in bliss. And from the way Dallas happily dedicated a majority of his time to her, so was he.

“Dallas,” she murmured, arms secured around him. “Move. I told you I had to go to my mom’s house early.”

His lips found her neck, making her shiver. “I know. I’ll let you go in a second.”

“I hate you so much,” Sevyn groaned, parting her thighs to give him access to her forbidden valley.

As Dallas skillfully slipped himself inside of her, Sevyn knew that she’d deal with every bit of her mother’s shenanigans if it meant getting another hit of him.

“Well lookwho the wind blew by,” one of Sevyn’s favorite people said as she stepped into her mother’s kitchen. “We haven’t seen you all week.”

Grinning, she headed straight into her grandfather’s arms. “Hey, Papa. I missed you.”

“I can’t tell,” her mom fussed, placing a plate of biscuits down on the table. “Your face has been seen few and far between around here over the last few days.”

“Hi, Ma,” Sevyn laughed, hugging her next. “I know, I’m sorry. I’ve been busy.”

“I bet you have,” Kohl smirked from his place at the table.

Sure to keep her hands out of her parent’s eyesight, Sevyn flipped him off while kissing their father’s cheek.

“Shut up. Hi, Daddy.”

“Hey, baby.”

Her mother didn’t let up. “Busy doing what? I know you aren’t training right now, seeing as how you supposedly took time off to spend with your family. Yet, we, your family, haven’t known if you were dead or alive. Explain yourself.”

Sinking into her seat, Sevyn figured it was best to just go ahead and pull the Band-Aid off. Even if she could think of a quick enough lie to satisfy her mother, it wouldn’t cover several days of no communication.

Brushing her hair off of her shoulders, Sevyn braced herself for the dramatics. “I’ve been with Dallas.”

Her mother’s eyes lit up almost immediately. “Oh? Do tell.”

“Ma, don’t start. There’s nothing to tell.”

“I don’t know, big sis,” Kohl teased. “Bro ain’t even been responding to the group chat. Seems like there’s a lot to tell to me.”

Just as Sevyn was about to let a curse word slip, their mother intervened.

“Are you two dating? How did this happen? And why didn’t you bring him with you? I need to call Meredith and—”

“Hold, hold, hold—” Sevyn interrupted as the men at the table laughed. “Before you and Mrs. Wallace go planning somebody’s wedding, it isn’t that serious. We’re having fun and getting to know each other. That’s all.”

“Oh, please,” her mom waved her off. “You two have been acquainted almost all of your lives. If there’s more for one of the two of you to get to know then somebody’s ass is slow.”

“Ma!”

“Carolyn, leave that girl alone,” Sevyn’s dad demanded through his laughter. “She and the boy decided to take their time and that’s that.”
