Shouldn’t be a problem?! Shouldn’t be a fucking problem?!
What the hell is wrong with her?!
“Right, Davix?” Hazel pushed.
I balled my hands into tight fists underneath the desk and stopped myself from baring my canines at my sister. “Right. It’s not a problem.”
“Awesome!” Hazel said, grabbing Ember’s hand. “There’s a lake near where we have bonfires.” She shot me another shit-eating smirk. “It’s always warm, even in the fall and winter. I’ll let you borrow one of my bikinis so we can all go swimming too! See you there, Davix!”
Chapter Eleven
Ember
I readjusted the padding on the bikini and sipped on hot chocolate, a layer of water from the lake covering my feet. Let’s just say that Hazel was petite, and I was definitely not. I didn’t have big boobs, but they sure felt like it in this thing.
Matt, one of Davix’s friends, was sitting next to me, talking about something.
The heat from the bonfire warmed my bare back. I posted my arms in the sand behind me and leaned back against them, letting a slight breeze blow back my hair. This was … such a nice escape from the city.
It was so quiet here, and I could actually see the stars in the sky.
Crazy how much I missed that.
“Baby,” that girl purred behind me, “I missed you today at Java.”
Last time I had whipped my head around, I had seen her all up on Davix and Davix intentionally putting his hands all over her, her tits, her hips, her ass. All while making sure I was watching.
That asshole.
With my hands tightened into fists by my sides, I growled underneath my breath. Who the hell did he think he was?! Just yesterday, he had followed me into the woods and eaten my pussy. Now he was flirting with another girl right in front of me? On purpose?!
Forget him, Ember.
I didn’t like him anyway. He was an alpha male, and I didn’t have time for all that insecure-man drama that would come with him, all that ego-crushing that I’d have to do. Way too much work for someone who sometimes didn’t have enough energy to get out of bed.
In the middle of Matt’s story, I shifted slightly, and my gaze traveled from him to Davix, who stood with that girl near the bonfire. Except he wasn’t all over her like he had been a couple of moments ago. No, he had a drink in one hand and his gaze locked on Matt beside me.
And I didn’t mean in a friendly what is he talking about stare.
This was a deadly what the fuck is he talking about glare.
Something must’ve happened because Matt suddenly stopped talking and sat up straight, the hairs on his arm standing up. He swallowed and then gave me a forced smile to excuse himself. Davix followed his departing figure with his eyes, then looked at me.
I glared at him because he had to have something to do with that, and I was just about to get up and march over to him to ask what his problem was. But I already knew. Davix didn’t like that I wasn’t paying attention to him.
Typical alphahole.
Hazel plopped down beside me. “How are you liking it so far?”
“The party?” I asked, glancing around. “It’s really nice. Your brother? Not so much.”
She rolled her eyes. “Tell me about it. He’s annoying as fuck. Ugly too.”
My gaze traveled back to him. Mmm, I wouldn’t say that.
“So, how do you know Cade?” Hazel asked.
Davix looked over. “You know Cade?”
