It’s okay. I’m not really looking for a fling or anything right now.
Chris:
How are you handling the breakup? If you don’t mind me asking.
Maye:
Good, I suppose. Well…I don’t know. I’m doing something a little unconventional. I have been working through the stages of grief on a weekly basis.
Chris:
Like a grief schedule?
Maye:
Sort of. I mean, yeah. Exactly like a grief schedule.
Chris:
I’ve never heard of anything like that. Is that a common thing to do? What if you aren’t done with a stage at the end of the week?
Maye:
Common? No, I’d never recommend it to a client. But at the time I decided to do it, I needed something I could control. So, good idea or not, it’s what I’ve been trying to do.
Chris:
That’s wild. But I kinda get it. As an old boss of mine used to say: Do somethin’. Even if it’s wrong. What stage are you at?
Maye:
Currently in bargaining. Next up is depression.
Chris:
Aw…I don’t want you sitting around all sad. Hey, I have an idea. You should come visit a movie set sometime. At the risk of shattering your perception of these rom-coms, you might actually enjoy yourself.
An invitation to visit a movie set was not on Maye’s bingo card. A month ago she would’ve laughed at the idea that these rom-coms were even filmed on a standard movie set, but getting to know Chris a tiny bit, and having watched more movies lately than she ever had in her life, she was actually quite intrigued by the idea.
Chris:
We’ll be filming in Halifax, Nova Scotia in a few weeks. Beautiful part of the world. Plus, Jayce wants to carve out some time for us to record a pilot episode. If you’re able to shoot up here, you could visit the set and then we could record a show or two. This is probably stretching the limits of a text convo so we can have a call with Jayce soon to talk about it.
Maye:
Can my cousin Tracy come with me?

A Big Date
Monday morning started a new week and a new phase of the grieving process. Maye woke up with excitement and anticipation, which she acknowledged and attempted to shift to a more sullen mood for the depression stage of grief.
When Maye took her phone off airplane mode, she received a flurry of messages in a new group chat she was part of with Jayce and Chris. Overnight, Jayce and Chris had planned a time to record the pilot episode of their show, and there was only one response the chat was waiting on:
Jayce Holiday (producer):
Maye, can you be in Halifax to record the last weekend of August? Chris will be filming there for 2 weeks and GACCofA is interested in featuring our show in December, but they want to see a pilot so we need to record ASAP. After that he’s in Vancouver, so we only have a small window to record a pilot episode so I can start shopping it around.
