I shook my head.
“Move.”
He stepped aside.
“Bossy.”
“You came into my kitchen.”
“And look where it got me.”
I started measuring the coffee while he watched.
His phone buzzed on the counter a few minutes later.
Tasha.
He reached for it and smiled almost immediately.
“What?”
He turned the screen toward me.
Mila and Jacob were sitting at a table with plates of pancakes in front of them. Mila was grinning at the camera with a piece of bacon in one hand.
I smiled.
“They look like they’re having fun.”
“Apparently they’re going somewhere after this too.”
“Where?”
“No idea. Tasha said she’d bring her back around two.”
I glanced at the clock.
A little after eight-thirty.
For some reason, knowing we had hours before he needed to be anywhere made the morning stretch differently in front of me.
Ellis set his phone down.
“What are you doing today?”
“I don’t know yet.”
“Going into Chapter & Charm?”
“Wasn’t planning on it.”
“A whole day away?”
He looked at me. “I do take days off.”
“Sure.”
“I do.”
