She laughed.

“What do I give?”

Luna considered me with entirely too much seriousness before saying, “Somewhere with parking.”

I laughed hard enough that the couple in the booth beside us glanced over, which only made Luna grin wider.

“Tell me I’m wrong.”

“I can’t.”

“Exactly.”

I picked up my water. “What about you?”

“What about me?”

“You always plan on staying in EG?”

Her finger moved through the condensation on the outside of her glass.

“No.”

That surprised me.

“Where were you going?”

“Atlanta.”

“Really?”

“For about six months.”

“What happened?”

“Life.”

I waited, and eventually she looked up.

“What?”

“That’s the same vague answer you initially gave me about your book yesterday.”

“Maybe I like vague answers.”

“Maybe.”

She smiled, but there was something behind it that told me not to push.

So I didn’t.

I reached for my water instead.

“What made you stay?”

This time, she answered.

“Chapter & Charm, eventually.”
