Chris:

You have a drawer at all your hoes' houses?

Vel:

Baby girl, you are not one of my hoes. Just say the word, and I'll drop my whole roster for you.

Chris:

Lies you tell.

Vel:

Keep playing with me.

I didn’t have time to think about what Vel was saying. We both knew we had feelings for each other.

I’m not stupid.

I’m broken.

“I'm going to need you to stop crying. I didn’t bring my umbrella.”

I wiped at my face; the tears had snuck up on me.

An older man, maybe in his late fifties, sat down beside me. I looked over at him with confused tears, and he handed me a napkin.

“A goddess as beautiful as yourself will cause a tsunami with all the power you possess.”

I couldn’t help but laugh at him as I wiped away my tears.

He was a handsome man if you like a little salt with your pepper.

“What’s wrong, Honey?”

Hearing honey come from someone else just didn’t feel right.

“I'm just over here in my feelings because I finally left a bad situation, and now I don’t know who I am or what I should be doing.”

“What’s your name?”

“Chris.”

“Nah, I want the whole thing?”

“Ugh, Christina Banks.”

“That’s who you are. In this moment right now, what do you want to be doing?”

“I want to finish this Long Island, then go upstairs, shower, and go to bed.”

“Then that's what you should do.” I looked at him like he was crazy, and he just laughed at me.

“We spend too much time worried about the future that we forget to live in the present.”

He took his time examining me, and there was little lust in his eyes.

“You a grown-ass woman. I bet even when that nigga was in your life, you was still doing the damn thing.”
