I was thinking the same thing. And how could I turn down new rims? It’s the least you could do.
Vel:
LMAO, I’m proud of you, Honeydew <3
Chris:
I’m proud of me too ;)
CHRIS
“I look damn good!” I yelled out loud as I admired myself in the mirror.
I had on my blond bob wig, a full face, and a dress that hugged my body in all the right and wrong places. I looked like the best kind of sin.
I had on a wedge heel because a bitch knew her limits, and I hated ending my night with my feet hurting.
I snapped a few pictures for my girls. Before I closed the app, I had a bad thought.
Well, it’s not bad. He’s also my friend…
I opened up my text thread with Vel. The last message was me telling him I had made it to Clam Shell safely, and him telling me not to have too much fun.
I quickly sent him a few of the pictures before I put my phone in my bag and left my hotel.
Clam Shell was a big city located on the West Coast.
As soon as I saw an assignment open here, I didn’t hesitate to take it. It was a month-long assignment, but so worth it. My new car was only a few weeks old, so I wasn’t worried about not driving it. It was at Nia’s place, and she would keep it in good shape for me.
They were paying for my hotel; I had a per diem for food every day, and transportation was easy because most places were walkable. The hospital was just two blocks from my hotel.
The salty night air felt good against my skin as I made my way down the strip. I couldn’t remember the last time I just went out by myself.
Have I ever been out by myself?
A bit of anxiety filled me as I thought back and started to look around at all the couples and groups around me.
Did I look like a lonely, crazy lady?
I felt my phone vibrate in my purse and pulled it out.
Nia:
Hey, lil mama, let me whisper in ya ear.
Jas:
You better have your pepper spray, taser, and gun on you, looking that good!
Vel:
The person you are trying to contact is no longer with us. Your beauty made his heart explode, and he is now talking to God about how long he has to wait for you to join him at those pearly gates.
I stopped in my tracks and burst out laughing, not caring who saw or looked at me.
In that moment, I realized I may be alone, but I'm never lonely.
Everyone around me had their own shit to worry about, and if they were worried about me, that's on them.
