“Lead the way please,” I say exhaling the relief I feel knowing she’s going to be fine. For a moment there, I feared the worst.
I followed the doctor to her room. Jade looks fragile. “My lady,” I whisper.
She turns gently. “Gent, thank you for saving me again.” I pull her into a hug. She’s safe and sound. The doctor is watching us, so I turn to her. “Are you going to be here all evening.”
“I’ll be here till morning.” I kiss Jade on the forehead and let her lie back down.
Moving closer to the doctor. “Can you make sure my wife doesn’t get any visitors, no one and I mean no one is allowed in this room. I’m going to have my bodyguard outside her door. I would greatly appreciate you seeing to her welfare.”
“Your wife? Prince Naseer,” she asks confused.
“Yes, Ms Diaz is my wife, her safety is a priority right now. I don’t think her allergic reaction today was accidental, someone made sure to put avocado in her food.”
The doctor gasped. “I can’t be with her all evening, but I can assign a nurse to be the only one to check in on her. She’s going to sleep through the night unless something changes, she should be fine.”
“Please assign the nurse and my guards will be at the doors. And Doctor Oteri, thank you very much. I reached into my pocket and handed her my card. If ever there’s anything I can help you with, please call me directly.” She takes the card and nods.
I posted Radek at her door, then headed back to the office with Rilwan. I need to find who tried to kill my wife.
I head straight to security and ask them to pull the tapes. I had extra cameras put into conference rooms, Jade’s office, and around her house after I heard about my dad and my children. I tell them to pull everything from when Jade walked into the building, they should just follow her. I watch her working, taking video calls and I know it’s the children with the way she’s smiling.
Then she works and heads to the conference room and I see her interaction with Traci, nothing out of the ordinary at first but she starts to react shortly after. I told them to play it back and watch how Traci handed her the food and also made sure she touched Jade.
Rilwan tells them to focus on Traci, from the moment she walks in, and when she wheels the food in, I noticed she didn’t take the box of gloves under the cabinet but took the gloves out of her pocket and she touched Jade, during the chaos of saving Jade, she comes back in to remove the sandwich she had handed to her.
Traci did this, but why would she go out of her way to harm Jade, there’s got to be more.
I told the security to make me a copy of Traci’s actions and Jade’s reactions.
I went to Josh and Ken. “I want to know who gave my wife the sandwich she ate and touched her with latex. I specifically said no dishes with avocado to be served all powdered latex gloves to be thrown out and use only nitrile gloves in this building, but someone didn’t listen, and they dared to find out what I would do. I turn to Josh; can you call Traci to come in here.”
“Naseer, take it easy, why would Traci do this, she has been with us since we started, I trust her,” Ken says.
“Are you sure about that, I have proof, she purposely wore the powdered latex gloves and touched Mariam, she also gave her the sandwich with avocado.” I pull up my iPad and play the interaction. They are also shocked to see her taking the gloves out and discarding them outside the building. Then return to take the sandwich too.
“Oh, my God,” they echo.
“Call her in, Josh,” I state in a harsh tone.
“Traci, can you come into my office,” Josh says calmly, which is good, she won’t be alarmed. She comes in smiling. I got up and asked her to sit. She takes the seat holding her pen and paper close.
“Can you tell me, who asked you to touch my wife with a powdered latex glove and also give her a sandwich with avocado,” I ask.
“Wife sir, I haven’t met your wife, and I didn’t give anyone a sandwich, sir.”
“Ms Diaz is Prince Naseer’s wife,” Ken says. Her stumped look is no surprise to me but her I’m fucked face had me curious.
“I will only ask you once more if you lie to me again. I’m going to have you removed from here and imprisoned, where no one will ever find you. If you think I can’t do it, you can try me, and let me assure you that I will still find out, who put you up to trying to kill my wife, it may take me a while, but I will find out. It will just mean that you stay in prison longer but if you tell me. I might let you leave here, without a job of course but no imprisonment.” She coughs. I can see the beads of sweat on her forehead, and nervousness as we all stare at her, mine is more of a scowl. She rubs her hands together several times and looks at Josh, but he has turned on his hard face.
“I’ll tell you, please don’t send me to prison I didn’t want to do any of this, but they threatened me. They said if I didn’t do it, they would bring to light my drug past, along with my theft record. I didn’t have a choice. I like my job here,” she says frightfully.
“Who are they?” She looks at me frightened. I expected “he” but not “they” I needed her to say the words. She looks at Josh, and he nudges her to say the words. She still fears saying it.
“Say who they are Traci,” Ken says to her. shakingly, she mutters.
“Princess Nadra and Prince Naseer’s father. Mr Darabi”
My eyes widen, and my entire mind is in shock, at no point did I think Nadra and my father would team up. Here I was thinking I was two steps ahead of my father, unbeknownst to me that I was playing checkers, with two conniving people playing chess.
