“Wait a minute.” Dorian interjects. “I’m house sitting for you this weekend and I need to worry about what I’m sitting on?”
“And where you’re eating, showering and brushing your teeth.” Sage grins devilishly.
“Jesus Christ,” Dorian murmurs.
“Hey, the guest bed is safe.”
“Oh, thank fuck.”
“But not the other furniture in there… or the floor.”
Sage and I exchange a look and burst out laughing.
“GODDAMNIT!” Dorian yells and throws a pickle towards us.
We duck out of the way, and it lands on the windowsill behind the booth. Sage reaches behind us to grab it.
“Michael!” Sherry screeches from behind the bar.
He blushes and mouths ‘sorry’ to her while she continues to scowls at him through her glasses. I’ve never seen a woman that makes him cower quicker than the bar owner. Not even Mrs. Ilgenfritz.
“Move over pretty boy,” Ava says shooing Dorian with her hand.
He scoots to the end of the booth dragging the onion rings with him. Ava slides in and wedges her purse between them. She runs her fingers through her curls before giving me a tired smile.
“Hey, baby girl,” she greets. She points to my glass and raises a curious eyebrow. “Water?”
“Someone has to get these two home safely.” I bump my shoulder into Sage and glance at Dorian. “Plus I think I had enough alcohol at the bar to last me for a month.”
Ava groans. “Don’t remind me. I think I have PTSD. I won’t be doing that ever again.”
“Drinking or taking randos home?” Dorian quips.
She narrows her eyes at him. “One-night stands. I’m done with that shit. It’s totally not worth it when ninety nine percent of them can’t find a clit if they were handed a map.”
Sage chokes on his beer and his face turns red. I pat him on the back as he coughs into his fist.
Dorian grins wickedly at Ava. “If you need an expert—,”
She holds her hand up. “Don’t.”
“Touch her and I’ll break your fingers.” Enzo’s low voice booms over the crowded room. He walks up to the booth carrying two beers and his laptop.
Dorian chuckles and holds his hands up in surrender—one holding an onion ring and the other a fried pickle. Ava takes the beer bottles from Enzo and he slides in next to her.
“Hey Lorenzo, do you want to start a thirst trap account with me?”
Enzo doesn’t even look away from his laptop while muttering a curt, “No.”
“Oh lord help us.” Ava shakes her head, taking a pull from her beer.
Enzo pulls out a cord from his pocket and connects it to the computer. “Liv, give me your phone.”
“Why?” I ask hesitantly while pulling it out of my back pocket.
“I’m putting trackers on everyone’s phones.”
Ava’s eyes widen and she chugs half of her beer. I hand Enzo my phone and he plugs the cord into it. He focuses on the screen, typing at a speed I could never match.
