“Will,” she chokes out.

I glance up to see her looking down at me. My fingers are digging into her hip hard enough to leave bruises, and I realize that I started fucking her harder. My grip tightens around her neck.

“Eyes up,” I command and she obeys, looking at her reflection again. “Good—fucking—girl,” I groan between thrusts.

Her moans vibrate underneath my palm. I move my other hand around to her back and push to give her more friction because she’s soaking my fucking pelvis. That beautiful flush starts on her chest and creeps up to her cheeks.

My gaze remains fixed on Liv as her breathing becomes stilted. Her moans grow silent and her pussy contracts around my cock. That current that had been hovering at the base of my spine finally erupts into full blown ecstasy and my orgasm rips through me violently.

“Jes—fucking—God,” I hiss through gritted teeth.

Liv’s screams of pleasure reverberate off the walls when I release the hold on her throat. My cock is still pulsing inside of her when she collapses on top of my chest. I run my fingers through her hair and lightly graze them up and down her spine. Eventually, our erratic breathing syncs and slows down.

“Thank you,” she murmurs against my collarbone. She’s silent for a beat before she adds, “for telling me.”

“I thought you were thanking me for the earth-shattering orgasm.” I smile and she slaps my shoulder playfully. I tighten my arms around her. “I’m sorry I waited so long.” I sigh and kiss the top of her head.

Sitting upright, I slide my hands to her ass and stand us both up. Her legs wrap around my waist, and I carry her upstairs to the bathroom.

It was truly an idiotic move on my part to keep this from her. I had no reason to other than I thought she would think less of me. Why, I don’t know. Because she, along with a multitude of other people, agree that I was just a child.

If anyone can get me past my irrational guilt, it’s Olivia. Ever since meeting her, I have grown so much as a man. I wanted to be a better person for her. A respected role model at work. A reliable friend. And now, a worthy lover.

I will always put her first.

And I need to get rid of her demon before I can deal with my own.

Chapter Seventeen

Kyle

It’s been five days.

Five days since I left Olivia that note in her book.

Five days of her only leaving the house to go to work.

Five days of watching her on these screens.

Five…fucking…days.

I looked forward to Fridays because those were the evenings I didn’t have to watch her through a computer monitor. Instead, I could hide among the crowd and see her in person. It’s like being at the Grand Canyon, staring at its natural beauty. The river of colors that paint the rocks. The vibrant hues that illuminate the sky as the sun sets. Then when you get back home, you look through the pictures that you took. They just don’t do it justice.

I spent hours waiting for her in that park. Not once did I receive a notification that she was on the move. And I checked my phone repeatedly like a crack addict hoping for their next hit.

My apartment door slams behind me. I kick my boots off by the door and walk to my desk. Reaching into my back pocket, I pull out the torn picture I took from Olivia’s house. The one with her white knight dressed in a suit.

I wrote a little note on the back of it for her. One that I was going to slip into her book again. A threat this time. I wanted to ramp up the anxiety. Make her squirm.

But not today.

“What’s so important that you missed your run, princess?”

I slide out the computer chair, tossing the picture onto the desk. I click through the feeds of the house until I find her. There’s a suitcase lying on the bed. She moves fluidly back and forth from the dresser to the closest, packing everything meticulously.

“Where are you going?” I wonder.

My first thought is that she’s running from me. The first note I left injected fear into her so deep that she wants to escape me.
