“You should see him overact when someone gets a paper cut,” Julian muttered.
“I do not overreact,” Liam retorted.
“You brought antiseptic wipes to rehearsal,” Sebastian pointed out.
“That was after Milo licked his fingers before touching the piano.”
Quinn stared at Milo. “You licked the piano?”
He sighed. “It was one time.”
Quinn raised his glass. “Well, if this group ever becomes famous and chaotic, I’ll be very glad you’re already on staff. Every band needs a medical professional.”
Finnley raised his hand. “I vote we also get a lawyer.”
“And Oliver sets things on fire for a living,” Sebastian added.
Oliver rolled his eyes. “Ignore him. I’m a firefighter.”
Quinn nodded seriously. “That’s reassuring.”
Oliver frowned. “Why?”
“Because the alternative explanation was that this group just keeps an arsonist around for atmosphere. But yeah, same thing. Every friend group needs someone who can deal with emergencies.”
Finnley snickered. “Mostly emotional ones.”
Oliver glanced at Quinn. “You’d fit right in on my night shifts.”
Quinn flashed him a bright smile. “Tempting.” Then he glanced at me, grinning as though he’d just found another ally. He leaned back in his chair, clearly still cataloguing everyone. “Okay,” he said, counting off on his fingers. “We’ve covered coffee, firefighting, trauma medicine, and the thrilling world of stationery.” He inclined his head towards Sebastian. “What about you?”
Sebastian looked up from his drink. “I’m currently unemployed.”
Finnley coughed into his pint. “Technically, you’re job hunting,” he corrected.
Sebastian nodded gravely. “This is true. I hunt jobs that can be extremely elusive little fuckers.”
Quinn frowned. “How do you manage to survive in London without a job?”
Elliott nudged Sebastian. “He’s living with Devon.”
Quinn blinked. “Who’s Devon?”
“My brother’s best friend,” Sebastian said.
“And Devon’s six-year-old son,” Finnley added.
Quinn brightened instantly. “Ooh, a child. Plot twist.”
Sebastian took a drink. “Elias stays every other weekend.”
“And he adores Sebastian,” Milo added.
Sebastian smirked. “Elias likes my video game skills.”
“Elias likes anyone who lets him eat ice cream for breakfast,” Elliott said.
Quinn leaned forward. “How are your Lego skills?”
