For half a second, he didn’t move.
Neither did I.
Then his hand slid around my waist.
He kissed me back.
I’ve only kissed a handful of boys in my life, but nothing like this.
Every thought in my head disappeared.
The kiss wasn’t sweet.
It wasn’t careful.
It was delicious.
His hand tightened at my waist, pulling me closer.
I curled my fingers into his shirt.
Somewhere beyond the barn, someone else screamed.
A chainsaw started.
I barely heard either.
All I could think about was him.
I pressed harder into his mouth, the kiss still just a press of lips.
Reaching my hand up, I wanted so desperately to run my trembling fingers through his hair.
But, before I got to, he pulled away.
I sucked in a breath.
I couldn’t stop the smile from gracing my lips.
All I could feel was his harsh breath caressing my face. The smell of mint and cedar.
“Well….”
He stiffened.
“That’s going to make waiting until next year really fucking inconvenient.”
A sound lets out and I think he let out a snort or even a laugh.
I’m about to say something when the sound of the chainsaw starts up again and a scream erupts.
“Raven!!”
Charlie.
I step back just a step and then the lights flicker back on.
I turn back to where my masked man just stood, and he was gone.
